I was a big fan of Uriah Heep back in the seventies. Drummer Lee Kerslake and keyboardist Ken Hensley. Both passed not so long ago.

Lee was a hoot!! We were heading to a gig in Phoenix with Mick and Bob Daisley in my '79 t-top Thunderbird. We were following the tour bus and got pulled over outside of Tucson going 120 in an 80. Lee was laughing the whole time and asked the cop how much the ticket was going to cost me, $200, Lee reached in his pocket, gave me the money and said let's roll. We had lost the tour bus and nobody knew where the gig was let alone the hotel, so we pulled over at a phone booth ( no cell phones then) Mick called his management in England and was able to get the name of the hotel and venue. We made it to the hotel in time to freshen up and head out for the sound check!! Close call!!!!

First band I saw live, aged 15 in 1976. We were huge fans. Mum n dad took me and my brother. They were amazing. Great and underrated. I met Lee Kerslake in a nightclub; I knew immediately who he was. We had a chat, I told him what huge fans me and my family were. We agreed that the 76 gig I had seen was amazing! Nice guy and a great drummer. Love me some Heep to this day.

I have heard Ur-eye- ah Heep through out my life on the radio, but one day this song came on and I actually listened to it, and this was how I found Uriah Heep myself They have lots of great albums that feature different band members, This was the original cast of band members and David Byron was the singer... Who passed way to early.... He sure could sing! I am Glad you found happiness in a song the same way I did!

Good to see it made you happy. The "i" in Uriah sounds like "eye", though, not like "ee". Or "Uriah rhymes with fire"? (Band was named after a character in a Charles Dickens novel, and the character would've been named for Uriah the Hittite, whose wife, Bathsheba, David, King of Israel wanted for himself, and so sent Uriah into battle on a mission he couldn't survive - which almost fits with the song? ...

The bands name, was taken from a Charles Dickens character, from the story, David Copperfield. My 1st concert that I ever went to, back in August of '73 (The "Sweet Freedom" tour). Sadly after Byron, Kerslake, Thain, and Hensley died, Mick Box is the "sole survivor" of the band. Personally, I consider the song "Salisbury", one of their worst songs. Heep did not sound good with an orchestra backing them. The rest of that album is good.
