William Phillips about how many times have you lost a deer due to a neighbor not allowing a recovery? Is there any laws against hunting so close to dwellings? In Michigan we must be 500 ft from any dwelling, regardless of weapon.

@Tracy Weber Without predation deer multiply until there is not enough for them to eat in their habitat, and when that happens your deer friends slowly starve to death in winter. The large populations also create conflicts with humans in the form of auto accidents, destroying landscaping, and relying on eating farmed crops for food. Thanks to regulated hunting, and conservation efforts by hunters there are more deer in this country than there have ever been.
@alexhamon9261
@alexhamon9261 6 жыл бұрын
@Tracy Weber You have 200 deer in a habitat that only supports 100. All 200 starve through winter, many of them die or become so malnourished they miscarry and fail to reproduce, you now have 75 deer. You have 200 deer, and kill 100 of them, and the other 100 now have twice as much to eat, none die from lack of forage, most of them successfully reproduce and you now have 200 or more from does that were able to raise twins thanks to the extra forage.
@alexhamon9261
@alexhamon9261 6 жыл бұрын
@Tracy Weber Before hunting was regulated, humans killed deer any time of year whenever they needed meat, by 1930 there were only around 300,000 whitetail deer left. Regulation and conservation efforts since then have increased their population to more than 30 million. They went from endangered species in my state, to a population of almost 2 million. The real threat to the future of these animals is loss of habitat from human development. Habitat conservation is something that hunters spend way more on than the average person on. Our liscense and tags as well as a taxes on hunting equipment have contributed billions of dollars to ensure that these animals will always have habitat. Have you volunteered to improve habitat or donated any money to fund any sort wildlife conservation this year? Every licensed hunter in America did.
@ChefAndy972
@ChefAndy972 6 жыл бұрын
@Tracy Weber look it up, its 100% true. It's not JUST whitetail deer that are having such great success. Elk, thanks to the rocky mountain elk foundation are having a great comeback. Wild Turkey were on the edge of extinction until the national wild Turkey foundation stepped in and started managing them. Now there's a healthy enough population to support a hunting season in 49 states. Ducks Unlimited has purchased millions of acres of habitat specifically in the migration path of waterfowl (ducks, geese, etc). Every state in the US has a version of fish and game. 100% of the funding for maintaining and purchasing new habitat and managing the species comes from selling hunting and fishing tags and boat registrations. None of the funding comes from tax payers. Hunters also pay a special tax on firearms, ammo, bows, and hunting apparel that is earmarked for conservation (Pittman Robertson act). Your state and national parks are 100% funded from these fees (again 0 tax payer dollars pay for any of it). Even public places that dont allow hunting are still paid for by hunters. Google your state and public hunting map or wildlife management area, I think you'll be amazed and how many places you'll find

I have woods behind my home and the woods is about 250 yards wide and if you go east it opens up into a few bigger fingers of woods. I slip in and out without anyone knowing. It's County property and it's open land, the hunting is legal, you must stay 150 feet from a home. I stay secretive because I don't know what some neighbors will say. It's great hunting. The deer really needed to be thinned out. I also have a power line to the right of my home which adds a bit more privacy for me to do my thing. Of course deer don't always cooperate after you shoot them and they can run off in a direction you'd rather not see them go so that plays into how and when you take the shot so you can up the percentage the deer will head in a favorable direction where it won't die on one of the neighbors lawn. It is fun, it's right behind my home, it's great action and there are some outstanding bucks.

Stan Petrikis nice if you only sit for an hour or two. They get annoyingly uncomfortable pretty quickly. I still use mine when I only have a couple hours after work to hunt and I'm in a hurry. Otherwise, treestands are muchhhhh better. I only use my saddle when I have to. Do you watch hunting dvds/videos? I bet you never saw a hunter in a saddle. Maybe once. Maybe 1/1000. That's how great they are lol. It's only practical for a hunt like this guy is doing. Quick and tree hopping everyday

@jeffree6996
@jeffree6996 6 жыл бұрын
Stan Petrikis true that. I'm a lock on guy myself. I'll put up a few on the property I hunt and move one around if need be. May I suggest a good set of climbing sticks. I use the lonewolf but there are a few similar. I'll hang all my stands and leave them in the tree by themselves and just carry in and set up my sticks every hunt. That way no one can get into my stands but me. The lonewolf sticks are very light and compact and easy to carry in and set up. Muddy makes a really nice cam lock stick also. So much easier then those bulky heavy stick ladders that you leave on the tree. Unless you know no one will come across your stands
