The classic Green Hornet TV hero car The Black Beauty is now in 1:25 scale with ALL-NEW tooling from AMT. This kit was created with authentic details inside and out. The outside has gadgets galore including the front gas gun, front rocket launchers, rear gun, reach rocket launchers, scanner (satellite), and rear brooms. The detailed interior includes an infra-green visor, a detailed dashboard compartment for the front phone, a front TV screen, a front speaker, a partition with main controls, a rear TV screen, a rear speaker & oscilloscope, and a rear phone. The model can be built with the gadget doors opened or closed. Other features include custom rims, center & side grilles, double infra-green headlights or single lens headlight options, and multiple plate options. Also included are the full-color water-slide decals and BONUS Green Hornet & Kato figures!

The Green Hornet is a superhero created in 1936 by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker, with input from radio director James Jewell.
Since his 1930s radio debut, the character has appeared in numerous serialized dramas in a wide variety of media. The Green Hornet appeared in film serials in the 1940s, The Green Hornet television series in the 1960s (which costarred Bruce Lee in his first major adult role), multiple comic book series from the 1940s onwards,[1] and a film in 2011.
The franchise is owned by Green Hornet, Inc., which licenses the property across a wide variety of media that includes comics, films, TV shows, radio and books. As of the 2010s, the comic-book rights are licensed to Dynamite Entertainment.
The Green Hornet is a television series shown on the ABC U.S. television network. It aired for the 1966-1967 television season and stars Van Williams as both the Green Hornet and Britt Reid, and Bruce Lee as Kato.[12][13] With his insistence on using his martial arts skills, Bruce Lee stole the show as Kato. This was perhaps the first time Asian martial arts fighting was seen on American TV. The show launched Bruce Lee's career as a popular actor in the US as well as in Hong Kong. Audience interest even led to Van Williams asking to learn some martial art moves.[14]
Williams and Lee's Green Hornet and Kato appear as anti-heroes in the second season of the Batman TV series in the two-part episode "A Piece of the Action" / "Batman's Satisfaction". The episode ended with Batman himself questioning whether or not the Green Hornet was really a criminal. Unlike the "campy" version of Batman, this version of The Green Hornet was played more seriously.
Animated series
In July 2020, Kevin Smith and WildBrain announced plans to develop a Green Hornet animated series set in the present day and focused on a reimagined Green Hornet and female Kato.[15] On February 28, 2023, Smith confirmed in an episode of Fatman Beyond that the series would be 10 episodes.

The original 'Black Beauty' was built by famed customizer Dean Jeffries from the 1966 Imperial. Jeffries built two cars for the TV series: one for driving scenes the other for the gadgets. He built the cars in one month.

AMT did have a mid 1960's Imperial in their kit lineup back in the '60's and I wanted one to convert into the Black Beauty but the collector prices I couldn't justify. I happened to meet an AMT executive in the mid 1990's after it became AMT/Ertl and moved to Iowa. In the course of our conversation I asked about possibility of reissuing the kit. He told me that they couldn't because when they did an inventory of all the kit tooling it was one of several that were corroded beyond salvage.

65-66 Chrysler Imperial Crown, depending on what sense they show it. The tail lights confused me a little, most of the lights are facing up... maybe it was so they could fly the drone back to the car.

VERY COOL! However, in actuality, because they did a lot of day for night shooting on the series, they had a filter on the camera lens to block out light. They still had a problem with the Beauty reflecting a ton of light, so they had to hit the car with a black matte finish so the night time shots didn't look "odd". So, the natural finish of the body is much more true-to-life!

The TV BB had very distinctive cats eyes when lit at night, I mentioned to Round 2 at pre production that they should've made some decals for them, but they screwed the pooch. I will be printing mine on transparency film. I was thinking maybe #14 decals were headlights but they appear to be the Hornet logo. 👀

Looks like an excellent kit. Built the original Aurora kit when fit and finish did not matter. Built the re-popped kit this year from Polar Lights (Round 2) and it is terrible kit. This one is on my must buy and build list.

Sadly, not only a curbside, but hood is molded on and the promo style chassis has a single exhaust! What super hero car has a single exhaust? I think a Chrysler 300 chassis/ engine from AMT or Mobieus might fit under that sweet body. But having to cut the hood off is a major turn off. I'm on the fence about buying this one....
