Great review, thank you! I have been using a GK2 for a couple of months and love it!

Thanks brother! The gk2 is easily my favourite printer so far to use
@JohnDoe-ot5ir2 ай бұрын
I could be wrong but I disagree that it's possibly the best 3d printer available today. IMO Uniformation missed it with smaller screen size and no pressure sensing for obstructions on build plate or in vat. I really wanted to like this printer and was highly anticipating adding it to my collection but I'm going to pass. For me best bang for buck right now imo is the Anycubic m5 and7 also elegoo saturn 3 ultra. I skipped the saturn 4 because of a few design features I don't like. This is just my opinion. Thanks for the video.

Are you referring to the clip at the start before I opened it up? The smaller screen size is definitely a strange choice and I agree with the pressure sensing. Thanks for the comment brother!
@Brom0timol2 ай бұрын
Depends what are your needs if for example temperature is a problem uniformation product made a fully integrated heater under the screen. The pump system with the universal cztrodge is also great. M7pro heating pump seems to be messy AF to clean. But I agree gk2 size slightly above the competition on mid sized printer was a must and lack of pressure sensing was a bad idea : more secure of something was stuck on vat and you forgot to check and also on my gk3u I have some prints needing more more of less lift height due to sunction forces which could differ a lot (I find there is way more sunction when I print like 30mini on same plate than 1 big thing) and on this case pressure sensing to optimise lift height could be a big time saver.
@fluxcapacitor2 ай бұрын
Not only the force sensor is very useful to prevent the LCD from breaking due to some forgotten cured crunchy chunks hidden in the resin at the bottom of the vat, but it can do wonders: look at Anycubic's dynamic lift height for example, which is a smoking gun feature! If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch FauxHammer's or J3D Tech's review video of the M7 Max.

Printer seems fine to me. Only note I'd like to add is that the pre-heat feature will save me. Due to safety reasons, I print outside, yes I have a shed as well but it has no heating inside, it's just and HDPE shed with no power (and a single power coord going in). Printing at lower temperatures makes it impossible to print with, especially my unfinished "plant based" resins. Rest seems fine, and generally KZbinrs/influencers are given the prototype/early versions of the printers. Generally the first printers to hit the shelves come with the updated firmware or instructions on how to do the update, it's a minor inconvenience, and many things are hammered out. Even then, day 1 products are rarely "perfect" hence why after a few months, the product is refined and awesome, so I many of the quirks shown here can be in my eyes overlooked. Thanks for the review Sam :)

I was thinking in buying one of these. So, what's the best printer at this time?
@bjf102 ай бұрын
15:08 it looks like your screen still has the protective plastic on it? Could that be responsible for some of the UI issues?
@battlebrothersam2 ай бұрын
No when I first opened the printer the original firmware was super slow but that's because it's a test printer, after the firmware updated it was smooth enough

Hey Sam great video as always. What would you say is the best budget small resin 3d printer? I was looking at the the Photon mono 2 with the wash and cure for $240 would that be a good shout? also is there anywhere in Ireland that is good to buy from or is straight from the manufacturer better?
@battlebrothersam2 ай бұрын
I haven't used anycubic machines in a long time but I'd say an elegoo mars 3/4/5 depending on your budget, best bet is to order from either amazon or direct. I have a video I done recently on the best 3d printer to buy but I don't think anywhere on the island sells 3d printers and if they do then I haven't heard of them

Seems like a fair assessment to me. Can't imagine the company will be too upset. "I'll be using it a lot" is really the key takeaway. Honestly if a reviewer hghlights some annoying faults I'm more likely to trust them than if everything is awesome and super-perfect.

Thanks brother, if it comes across as fair to you then that's perfect! It's a good printer, yes there are some flaws (auto filling I'm looking at you) but for my shed it's a welcome addition

I like the very convenient drip stand but I can't let it slide for the down size of the screen... I would rather buy another GKtwo even if the GKthree will have a exposure calibration when compared to the older model

It's such a bizarre choice to downsize the screen to sub 10"

@@battlebrothersam it's not like they have any choice, other vendors also goes for this screen, Elegoo S4U 16k for example, neither of msla printer vendors has capability to produce LCD's so they using what lcd vendor can provide.

Do you have a link to the denatured alcohol/isopropyl you use? Cheers for the review fella. Seems like it's definitely got some nifty features, no doubt, but tbh I'm not seeing anything massively mindblowing or must have for the price point to upgrade, so I reckon I'll be sticking with my GK2 for the forseeable.
@battlebrothersam2 ай бұрын
I do! Here it is Isopropyl Alcohol - amzn.to/3UGbNG0 I got the methylated spirits locally and amazon was way too expensive compared to the Iso I linked here
@odisy642 ай бұрын
7:00 i would disagree with your assessment, really large screens are mainly useful for printing large objects that cannot fit in smaller screens, if you are printing minis then the loss of build space is just an inconvenience instead of a limitation. i dont ever find myself filling my plate to the point where im like "i really want something 7% bigger" more like 50% but i dont want to deal with a printer that's 50% bigger.
@battlebrothersam2 ай бұрын
I can see your point and I should try and see what the difference is with a bigger model vs the gk2, I approached it from my experience of printers and what I use them for, which is printing a boatload of minis! 😁

Would you say that this is better than a Saturn 4 ultra? Would it be worth getting the GK 3?
@battlebrothersam2 ай бұрын
Well it's going to depend on your budget and situation, for me personally based on how the machines are today if pick the gk3 because of the Integrated heater, its easier to use in the shed during winter. However there is a saturn 4 16k with a heated vat coming out at some point but I don't know anyrhing else about it
@battlebrothersam2 ай бұрын
If you don't need the heater then I'd buy the saturn 4 ultra, I done a video on the best printer for warhammer from my experience a couple of weeks ago

The Saturn Ultra 4 now prints at four times the speed of the GK2. Sure speed is not everything but the comparably the GK2 is near intolerably slow. Can we get some information about print speed here?
@battlebrothersam2 ай бұрын
I can when I get a reviewable unit that I will do an actual review on, to be honest speed isn't a big selling point for me personally because I put them on overnight but I know it was important to me at the start and will be for many. If I get an actual retail unit to review I will do speed tests but I don't think this machine was built for speed like the s4u

About the build size and screen size … the screen is from 10.3 to 9.6 inches. But if you compare the size of the buildplate according to the uniformation website both printers has a 9.5 inch build plate. So I’m questioning, doesn’t the gk2 just waste some screen there or do I overlook something

I wish they didn’t have the camera. They could’ve spent the time and money on a calibration range finder, and a screen pressure censor. The auto filling system is meh for me. I don’t like it but Im willing to test it out and see how it goes.smaller build plate really sucks.
@battlebrothersam2 ай бұрын
The auto filling would only be useful for me when I'm printing a titan or big tank but I do wonder how much the camera actually costs vs the pressure senor, calibration finder

The anxiety you caused in the course of this video is pure comedy! Brilliant video though, glad I stayed away and went with another company in honesty. I feel that when other creators fall in love with one of their products they're not exactly as honest as originally expected when they receive further products from that brand. Thanks for staying honest!
