In this video, we tour Arauco's newest North American particle board and lamination facility. We were the first cameras allowed to go behind the scenes to see why this $500,000,000 facility is so special.
Arauco's newest facility is the largest of its kind in North America and the most technologically advanced in the world. Positioned in northern Michigan because of access to its local wood basket (forests), Arauco's raw material comes from within 70 miles of the facility.
Arauco's focus has been on sustainability and is a major reason why they've worked hard to train local logging companies to become FSC certified. These certifications are important to maintain proper management of forests. Since the plant has opened, they've gone from only two logging companies being FSC certified, to over fifty logging companies with this certification.

This is like "How It's Made" but on steroids. This process is amazing, and all for what is at the end of the day, the top of a desk. Super cool. My brain hurts from thinking about the planning and engineering that went into this.

Just an Idea? Take this Board with a insullation mix of Urethane and Bark, or a filler, to reduce cost of urethane and create 4x8x4inch, or 6 inch lock together wall boards. Put walls up in a U chanel at build site and cut opening later. May be create engineered windo frams and door.If you can make these cost effective and meet firecode and compression strength you will revolutionize home building. Common Guys its 2022 and we still build homes with Sticks. Time to think out of the Box?

$500M - WoW that is a huge investment and by the look of it some of the best European machinery manufacturers being represented there !! I think the guide made a few misleading statements starting from the beginning one being that they are able to track the chip that was used in only one particular panel that is simply not possible - he should also not use the word magic when referring to manufacturing particleboard or MDF - LOL - having worked in that industry for 27 years I can vouch for the fact that magic has nothing to do with a good product - no mention made of resin types or if it is made on site - with an outlay of that much I would expect that they make their own resin - it looks they do not treat their own paper though for the melamine press - awesome angualar saw - must mention that will all of the PPE being used it is sad that the woman is wearing cheap high heal shoes and the men fold look like they are wearing their gardening shoes - in all a fantastic green field project that I would love to work in or at least visit the next time I am in the USA.
