This product makes so much sense for me as a note taker. Its the convinience of having two displays in one device. Instead of doing split screen your note taking your note taking display is seperate and your books can comfortably face you on the main display. No need to open and rotate the display to start inking the extra step is removed. A smaller 14inch version would be great. Hope they pursue and refine the concept

i am 100 on board with you except that for ambidextrous users this falls short, they should develop something with a removeable tab device that can be placed on either side or used wirelessly. i guess the problem is the seamless transitions is only possible with the direct connection

No doubt they will innovate on the mini screen in the future iterations. Such as making it detachable, wireless and the ability to be docked and pivot, perhaps add a speaker, microphone and camera. All good things come to those who wait.

For digital art I see more potential in this than a tablet. You've got essentially an ultrawide screen and the second screen can either house tool windows or help you draw closeup on points that need some detail and refinement.

Ergonomics of this are odd. the screen throws everything off centre, and what of left handed people. the Zenbook duo has a separate trackpad, it's the best implimentation of a dual screen imo.

It is interesting to me that none of the clips show the person typing anything. I love Lenovo and while I applaud what they are trying to do here, I do suspect the touch-screen will accidentally activate as you type. It is also interesting that the way the person(s) are shown writing on second screen they are doing so from a distance. Makes me wonder if palm rejection is an issue as well. Step in the right direction, but like someone else says, in the future this might become something that detaches, or docks in like a CD drive would, which would be phenomenal.

In my view, Lenovo has always come with solid and innovative products, which can be seen here. The only question remains if companies are willing to improve a 2nd touch screen or touch bar feature and hopefully the companies explore more of this. I was unhappy when Apple decided to remove the touch bar in new macbook. It was such a cool thing and the current model feels like a downgrade.

Until the day portable computers, other than tablets, also become modular i.e. swap around keyboards, track pads, screens positions etc, they would have to specifically build left hand versions, not that they couldn’t or wouldn’t, but most OEMS will try and appeal to the mass market first i.e. right handed people with these.

good point. it would almost behoove the user to use the left hand for the touchpad and the right for the display, and if they make a left-handed version, then it'd work the other way around. so becoming ambidextrous enough to use the touchpad with the off-hand would benefit whoever uses this laptop (which will be a pain for most users but a unique challenge for some). and i wonder if production costs will prevent left-handed versions... it's like producing two different laptops in terms of how it would roll off the line. idk fi this will catch on, but i like to use my offhand, so i think i would like this laptop. aaaaaand i will never, ever be able to afford one lol

Tech these days is pretty slim already. So having multiple devices for different purposes is fine. You basically asking for utility vehicle, a family car and a sports car to be achieved by one vehicle. Seeing Jeremy Clarkson attempt this and fail everytime tells me it’s impossible. Same for computers. If the tablet form factor worked with desktop software, the iPad wouldn’t exist.

@@sloppynyuszi Cars and computers are not the same, cars are primarily for transporting, computers obviously are multifaceted and do far more things. The iPad was designed from the ground up to be a touch tablet and is quite modular for a device, I know because I’ve used one for over 10 years since day 1, but it will always be held back by its OS - iPadOS Windows however is a full on desktop OS used for working, games, creation, development etc…and far more capable and Microsoft are obviously changing and improving Windows 11 to be also touch tablet friendly so it can be both it’s desktop and be a tablet interface. Hardware -w e can see many OEMS are testing and evolving hardware with 2-in-1, hybrid laptops and mini-desktops form factors - which shows not only do computers these days are not just a single desktop, a single laptop , a single tablet or even a single smart phone (Samsung’s Dex software is providing a desktop gui - I use it from time to time) but they too are also becoming multi-faceted and multi-form factors. Also Surface tablet shows it works with desktop software, its just a matter of further hardware refinement and Windows improving its touch/gestures…and also onboarding apps made for tablets.

@@nad1ax2 why? The Lenovo think plus dual shows that it can be done. Instead of having just having a note/drawing screen on top of the laptop’s lid it would be a full on tablet screen. Cover screens are becoming a thing on smart phones - Samsung Fold 3 (which I use), Z flip, Microsoft Surface Studio Laptop, though quite chunky, is a laptop - and further proof of the tablet-hybrid concept.

It's a nice idea but having the keyboard offset by so much is really bad in my opinion. If instead the screen could slide out from under the keyboard, that would be nice. Or even a completely removable tablet that can be stowed in the laptop, that would be really sweet. It could also have magnets that snap it to the side of the main screen.

Is it made of metal - or black plastic with a simulated metal paint job over it (that will wear off to show the black later - especially around the corners) ? For that price - what's the resolution of the camera? I hope its not 720p - cause that came out in 2012.

Funny he missed the most obvious target group for a product like this ! ANIMATORS ! A way com drawing tablet and a portable machine ! If they are each up to the mark. This could become for animators, what the M1 MacPros have started to become for content creator like MKBHD - a portable, reasonably capable work machine.

Never heard of a 21:10 display... Turns out its just a simplification. With a 3072 x 1440 resolution, the aspect ration is more like 21:9.8, so its a tiny bit wider than "true" 21:10.

@@hansmoran1219 the Microsoft surface with detachable monitor/tablet would have been a perfect “all in one” laptop for artist. To be able to use as a “Wacom”and keyboard at the same time separately. Instead, once detached from its keyboard, the board was rendered useless to type? It would have been a dream to be able to use the keyboard for shortcuts keys and use the monitor for the drawing. Totally missed opportunity.

My thoughts entirely. If you want another display, you'd just get a second monitor and not have to haul around a 17" laptop that doesn't even have a full on GPU. If you want a little pad to draw on for graphic design or something those are cheap and not trapped in your laptop chassis (Or just get a MacBook and use your iPad as a second display).

@@pumpuppthevolume This is what Intel has asked its OEMs to make, wild and wacky designs as they know they cannot beat Apple at pure performance and efficiency so up-sell gimmicky products like this and then market Intel machines as innovative. Looks a pain to me and probably will die a death very quickly. I would just buy a cheap tablet with pen and have a far better device that I can also use when I am not using the laptop. The aspect ratio for most will also be undesirable so a bit of a mess.

looks super cool but the scrolling seems super stuttery and the way the demonstration was showing the guy writing on it leads me to believe it has terrible palm rejection, which is very important. Who wants to write on a tablet style device while hovering their entire hand above it. Probably not great until gen 4 or 5. But i sure hope they don't just trash can this design because it's super interesting.

As a left handed person, the second display is unusable. It's ideal for a right handed person. Taking notes and creating illustration is just painful. Not recommended for a left handed user.
