The body and the face don’t even have the same colour! This is a hard pass for me, there are so much nice Thundercats figures like the super 7 ones

Thank you (and Mondo) very much for this review! Seeing actual physical copies of Lion-O and Snarf really helps those like myself who are on-the-fence regarding placing a pre-order. I've noticed that with other toy companies, there's sometimes a big difference between the promo pics and the actual delivered end product, to the point where I experience buyer's remorse and don't have the option of cancelling my pre-order. I love this. I ordered one the moment it went up. I generally love the updates Mondo makes to these classic characters and this one hits all the right beats for me. The one thing that would have been nice is having the belt separate from the armored loin/skirt. I really like the look, but know some have not. That way you could have a bit more classic look without sacrificing the belt. For example, I display my Mondo Man-At-Arms without the big chonky belt for more of a classic look and I love it. I'm wondering if like him, Lion-O can easily pop apart at the waist to remove the belt/skirt for those that aren't into it. Great review and thanks for the early look while this is still on preorder Dan! These kinds of well-timed reviews can really help those that aren't sure about a figure make their decision.

It's not working for me aesthetically for some reason. Someone mentioned in another comments section that he looks like Carrot Top with some of the head sculpts. Even worse though is Snarf - he looks evil and is total Nightmare Fuel. I'll stick with Super7, quality control and articulation issues aside!

Very cool! Great point about missing a happy face sculpt. Especially since Snarf is included. Also, it would be great if you could remove the armor and reveal the more traditional leotard singlet look for purists of the cartoon. Seems like could make that happen based on what you showed beneath the armor.

The plated skirt is removable as shown on photos on Mondo's site but I was really hoping that Pixel dan would try to remove the chest armor. The torso shows that the tunic is sculpted in and I was wondering if there was a sculpted tunic on the chest as well so we can have the option to display this in a cartoon version. I am also disappointed in the the dagger form of the sword. It looks more like a butter knife in it's stubby looking blade. In the cartoons, that is mostly shown in it's dagger form and almost just as iconic to be seen in it's full sword version. I agree that in 5 heads, one of them should have been a smiling face. There's 3 faces with the same expression of neutral; King Lion-O, golden-eyed Lion-O and regular Lion-O. This was a missed opportunity. But this was a instant pre-order for me and thanks to the Mondo team for letting Pixel Dan get a hands on for us. Also, Thanks to Dan.

No doubt, this is a cool product but let's be honest, the inevitable more-animation-accurate version is going to be the real seller. Mondo is simply employing the typical strategy that toy/collectibles companies use: Make the variant version first and then make the source accurate version after in order to double dip into consumer wallets.

My only gripe - and this applies to Lion-O figures acrss the board - is that nobody does a version of the claw shield with an out-shooting grappling rope which Lion-O frequently uses in the show to attach to a trr or eldge and swing away... would be cool if we had a Spider-Man-stye shooting attachment....

I wonder when Mattel does the Thundercats in the motu line how will they make the cubs Wilykit and Wilykat. Being smaller figures will they be sold as one or sold separately. I know Orko is a slightly smaller figure so they could be around the same size. It would be weird to have a line and not include them since they are part of the Thundercats team. Maybe they could give us Adult version of them so they could use the same molds as the rest of the line.

Honest thoughts … Lion O looks great but I really don’t like how creepy Snarf looks. When I heard that they were doing this, it was going to be a day one purchase but when I saw Snarf at SDCC, I hit the brakes. He looks disturbing. The pads on the hands isn’t really something I like but that’s minor. I could have done without the king head or the feline head in exchange for a less creepy alternate Snarf head or a happier Lion O head. I’m still on the fence here and Thundercats is probably my favorite 80s cartoon.

While I like what Mondo is doing with their Thundercats Lion-O, I'm going with the Super7 light-up Ultimates! Thundercats Lion-O because I can better recreate the times when Lion-O either uses Sight Beyond Sight or fully activates his sword.

I love the sculpted detail of the fur. I love the "realistic" look. I love the more feline alternate head. Kind of reminds me of Vincent (Rob Perlman) from the TV show Beauty and the Beast. But I don't collect 1/6th scale. I hope we get a Thundercats line of toys in the Masterverse style/scale.

As a fan of Thundercats, more so than He Man, I must get this... even though its price tag does hurt a bit. I only dabble a little in Mondo and have the new He Man and I pre-ordered Teela... and I will be pre-ordering this guy. I feel like Mondo should not be breaking the $200 price tag considering they are priced at the same amount as Hot Toys which Hot Toys are a step above (imho) production wise... Wish Mondo would drop all their releases by about $50.

I’m not a fan of that last alternate head with the more feline look, but the others look on point. I know it's probably unfair, but my opinion on Mondo is heavily influenced by my poor experience with their Ultimate He-Man preorder. Beautiful figure. Shockingly bad quality for the price. Maybe it was just me, but that's the only experience I got.

These ridiculously expensive figures should absolutely be able to do a full split and sit down in chair normally for what they cost. Can you please tell them to fix their awful hip joints? Its true, Lion-O does laugh alot in the cartoon, so a smiling face wouldve been great. More of their 1/6th figures need smiling alternate heads. Like their He-Man only had a smiling head with the Prince Adam variant in his bowl haircut. Maybe Mondo thinks their versions are too "badass" or "extreme" to include a fun smile. 🤷‍♂

Number one this figure is SPECTACULAR! But with Super 7 already having so many characters made in the Thundercats universe, I don't see the average consumer supporting this line! @@LuisDHern Looks like my prior post with the link got taken down so here's the high level summary. The Mondo team confirmed you could take off the armored skirt. If you go to the pre-order page for Lion-O you'll see on pic # 38 it is removable but they kept the chest armor piece. This will be the look I personally go with. Pic # 23 clearly shows what is a plug connecting the shoulder strap to the chest armor so you'll be able to disengage this to lock in the fabric cape for the King Lion-O look. With that being said you can probably remove the chest piece problem is I don't think he has the top portion of the tank top painted on him which would be the issue.

If rumors on the playground are true, the next season of Thundercats LionO was going to enter the Book of Omens, learn the history of his people and be like 30 and full grown and more powerful when he came out like what happened when Clark Kent turned 18 in the first Superman film and went into training with Marlon Brando Jor El. Once he returns 10 years have gone by, Tygra and Cheetara are having cubs and Willykit is an adult and Lion O makes her his mate. Cheetara turned him down and Pumyra turned into another Grune so things were not looking good in the romance department for Lion O. It would be nice closer kinda like what happened between Adam and Teela.

Not that I can afford Mondo stuff but, for me, there's too much fur detailing in the sculpt. I get that Thundercats are supposed to be a bit furry, but the all-over texture just feels a bit much. I think this treatment would work better for Jackalman, but it looks a bit odd on Lion-O. Other than that it's really nice.

Exactly. It needed to be more subtle. The Thundercats (and just cats in general) don't have course fur, they look a lot more sleek. Even lions, with their long manes, still have quite smooth textures to their coats.

Super love this Lion O, the only issue I have is, I'm not THAT big into 1/6 scale? I'm more into the 1/12 with the occasional 12" robot figure. The recent MOTU Mondo announcement, showing they are making 1/12 figures makes me hopeful we will get this figure in 1/12 scale as well.
