I absolutely love how we finally have a top level LMH car that's based off of a road car, it's like a return to form with the old prototypes

You mean like GT1 ? But I'll have to disagree. I don't think the AMR PRO could b considered the track version of the street legal valkyrie. Even Maclaren had to make new road legal versions for the long tail GT1 which was basically the same Maclaren F1 with a longer tail and nose. The AMR PRO is completely rewritten.

the fenders behind the front wheels are also different also much lower which creates the impression that this version has weird body proportions that don't align. Just look at where the nose of this car is and where those fenders are. It just looks weird. They need to put those fenders back where they're supposed to be or just paint the lower side of those fenders with a black stripe.

The advantage of not using hybrid is less weight and complexity but wouldn't having a giant v12 negate those advantages? I ain't saying no hybrid isn't viable, Alpine won twice in 2022 without hybrid but it's just a concern I have with the Valkyrie.

it doesn't. it's also lower to the ground like a GT car. Like the Vanwall was. That's something that's really missing in lmh/lmdh . The height of the lower part of the body on most lmh prototypes reminds me of LMP2 and the modern Hybrid LMP1 era and I really really do not like that. The Aston brings me back to the old days of GT1, group C and early LMP. Not only the looks but the sound as well cause it's really that good.

To that I say: A 1000hp 6.5 litre V12 that revs in excess of 10000rpm (in the road version). The engine will have to be changed to meet the regulations but should still be a competitive and detuning and lowering RPM should definitely yield good reliability.

@Eagleracer38x Ай бұрын
@@SamiKhan-hn3uk Yeah, that's great... All the power ever... What about this other thing that is also very important, efficiency. No hybrid means less efficiency = more pitstops. That's the issue with no hybrid doesn't give you an extra large fuel tank.
@SamiKhan-hn3uk
@SamiKhan-hn3uk Ай бұрын
@@Eagleracer38x well the hybrid cars don’t necessarily drive on electric power only, the electric motors and battery system can only be used at a certain speed (usually 200kph and above) so there is no real gain or efficiency since it’s all engine mostly (power is limited to ~500kW and I’m sure the fuel flow rate is restricted as well).
@Eagleracer38x
@Eagleracer38x Ай бұрын
@@SamiKhan-hn3uk Hypercars have a max power output, electric and mechanical. The non-hybrid only gets the mechanical. The non-hybrids were getting 8 to 10 laps at Le Mans last year. The hybrids were getting 12 to 14 laps. They get the same amount of fuel and rate of fueling approximately the same rate. Do you see a potential deficit in efficiency yet? It's not like I have a degree in mechanical engineering and Motorsports engineering or anything...
@SamiKhan-hn3uk
@SamiKhan-hn3uk Ай бұрын
@@Eagleracer38x ok so a 2 lap deficit at minimum, I get you…. But let’s not forget they don’t have to deal with the weight penalty of the battery and electric motors. I mean if it’s efficient enough without the hybrid system then why bother. I’m sure those engineers determined it was even more efficient without the hybrid components which is why they opted for pure engine.

Thank you for sharing. Especially the sound of the V12 Engine will make the fans go crazy. Eargusm ... That will be a nice contrast to the Cadillac. But I think the 6.5 Liter V12 Engine will be more thirsty than the turbo Engines. And without the Hybrid System in the rain you lose time not having 4 wheel drive. Verstappen loves to do Sim Racing in Le Mans and he tested the Valkyrie already since it is a project of Aston Martin Red Bull Cosworth and Multimatic. I would like to see him as a third driver in the 007 car in LeMans 2025 when his Red Bull Contract allows it. And when he changes to Mercedes F1 I am sure that his which will be part of his new contract then. What you guys think?

I like that it's entering both WEC and IMSA. I like that it's based off an existing road car. I would prefer more of a mandate to have a more direct connection between road cars or technology for ultimate use in future road cars than a mandate for 2 cars in WEC. I think IMSA allowing single car team entries makes that series less elitist and more fan friendly. But that's just an opinion. It's great that WEC and IMSA have regulations that allow both LMDh and LMH in both series. That is contributing to the success of top level sports cars. I'm surprised Aston don't have a hybrid element though. Is that a disadvantage?
@josemojeda1527
@josemojeda1527 Ай бұрын
Perhaps for fuel efficiency and corner exits, yeah. The hybrid is kinda heavy, but it delivers instant torque favoring acceleration (I think) and during pit stops most LMH/LMDh cars turn their engines off and then restart them with the electric part. It must account for something, little as it may be.
@F1ll1nTh3Blanks
@F1ll1nTh3Blanks Ай бұрын
The problem with having more road car involvement means that costs go up, to achieve similar performance as traditional racing parts. Ferrari, Caddy, Porsche, Lambo and now Aston are already using racing versions of their high performance road car engines. The fact that the performance margins aren't too high, allows them to do this which keeps it relevant for their road cars for more RoI but still competitive and economical. The 2 car requirement is annoying but offers some competitive security over the grid for those that are committed although it makes it so there's less space for more competitors that want to try with just one. IMSA 1 car customer focus is great but the disadvantage is that it locks out smaller boutiques and makes it so they have to spend more money on LMH for a chance at having their own independent projects in the top class.
@F1ll1nTh3Blanks
@F1ll1nTh3Blanks Ай бұрын
Also, not having hybrid isn't a disadvantage, everyone has similar economy targets they must meet and the hybrid can only activate over a certain speed. It's whether the car will be powerful and aerodynamic enough.

A road car, that was quicker than the previous LMP1 cars around a lap, has to have its performance reined in massively to make it competitive against its LMH rivals. Rivals that are all pure-bred racing cars first. This just shows how awesome the Valkyrie is and what happens when a F1 person designs a road car. F1 technology and R&D is so far ahead of the WEC, hence why a road car designed by Adrian Newey is quicker than LMP1 and LMH cars.

I like the look and sound of the car. But i highly doubt that they will be competetive in the next years. They are 2 years behind all other teams. Also i dont know if the powertrain decision is smart. A big naturally aspirated engine is probably quiet a bit bigger and heavier then a much smaller turbo engine. So that means the packaging and weight distribution might be suboptimal. Some of that will be undone by having no hybrid system, but that will then eat into their fuel consumption. Then there is Heart of racing as a team. A pretty unknown and inexperiecend quantity if u compare them to teams like Gazoo (Toyota), AF Corse (Ferrari) or Penske (Porsche). Also the driver line-up so far doesnt really look that promissing. So i expect them to at best fight in the midfield, maybe scoring a lucky point here and there.
