Singapore may be a wealthy country even in these times of a pandemic but it does not flaunt it with streets lined with hyper cars, gold towers and building a playground for the rich. Clearly it sinks in a lot of capital in building infrastructure, schools- human development, tech parks and green spaces, this is true wealth in the streets.

the new jc was established way before the JCs merged. the first batch was enrolled in 2013, having a new JC was probably conceptualised YEARS before.

@@za7v9ier Thats right. Garnent is the biggest client of smes in the construction industry. But usually the big players will sub some to smaller companies for ridiculously low pricing to squeeze the hell out of them. Payments taking forever as well because "big" companies tend to process payment longer. We need someone to dig out how many of these mps are "involved" in these companies!

To cater to the increase in IP students. The IP programme only started a few years ago for the 3 schools mentioned and they had plans for the new JC a few years back too. It makes more sense to build a new JC to cater to all the students who take IP programme in the 3 schools mentioned than to allocate different JCs for them. Why? Different JCs have different cut off points. How then will you allocate which students enter which schools? Students are supposed to be guaranteed a slot in a school as long as they meet the criteria after sec 4. Similar to IP students from DHS or RV.

Its like telling us normal students who arent from ip: boohoo u got lesser choices now and its harder for yall to get in now since more ppl will be in one sch, and proceed to give ip goddamn students a brand new sch? Many of normal jc students dont even have good facilities, eg lecture tables and chairs falling off, not so good canteen food, lack of necessary fans in the classroom, lack of classroom in alot of times. And?? they proceed to give ip students a new bloody school. This is obviously biased and inequality

The number of students going to JCs are getting lesser year by year, hence the round of mergers. Then come the building of such odd structure for the JC and Bishan North CC to further boost the properties prices in that area, as though they aren't expensive enough. The public agencies should justify their decisions and the eventual outcomes they hope to achieve with this building.
