I own Bryce's T-6A and B for FSX. I also have a Dash 1 for the T-6 A and the NATOPS for the B. Both of those performed by the numbers except the original AoA indexer which I re-coded for myself. If this is half as good, it'll be worth it.

What are your opinions after getting ahold of it?
@KyleCowden4 ай бұрын
@@dtemple67 The aircraft? I own the dash 6 for the A model and the NATOPS for the B model. I beta tested the A model, which is why I recoded the indexer. Also I've shared coffee with a few IPs and SNAs and SNFOs. The testing I did with the A model was flying it through the different regimes and according to TOLD and envelope cards. It was about perfect there. The experience I had talking with the real dudes helped inform the various opinions I had about ground handling, etc. For instance, you have a vertical stab essentially the size of a sheet of plywood, so the resultant squirreliness on the ground in a strong crosswinds and the tendency to weathervane absent some significant trim, lines up with the subjective input I had. I could not, for the life of me figure out how to get the B model's pitch control to work as it was supposed to. I temporarily used the prop axis manually and eventually created a profile for the controller to take the axis out. Handling wise, speeds, etc. were spot on as well. It's been years since I've flown either one so I don't know if the AoA indexer was addressed or the prop pitch on the B model.

I have both the Iris PC-21 and T-6 and their flight characteristics are completely different. I don't expect them to be the same, but they are completely different. The PC-21 is a set it and forget it while the T-6 feels more like flying a vintage plane. The red pin between the legs is supposed to be pulled prior to flight and it will be placed in the locking lever of the canopy. Hopefully they'll fix the flying characteristics, because it is unstable. I'll be waiting for Blackbird's T-6 to see the differences.

Nice video :) Pretty sure the F35 HUD works even if you don't have the F35 installed. The speedbrake works just fine, but you need to know that the Texan enforces speedbrake + flaps = bad by disabling and retracting the speedbrake while flaps are extended. It didn't work for you on the ground because you'd just set takeoff flaps, and it came down after takeoff because you still had it set to extend and you retracted the flaps. Wonder if it would have interrupted that unrecoverable spin ? Stranger things have happened, might have a go. I think it released with the F35 HUD because the Texan one wasn't finished, that was added a few days after release. Or I might be thinking of the PC21 :)
@jonbeckett9 ай бұрын
Ah - good point about the flaps and speed brake! The F35 HUD no longer appears to work - which is why I wondered if you need it installed, to "borrow" it.

The only way to get it back to beta (the way they have implemented it is to go through cutoff first, which of course kills the engine).

I bought this and quite frankly very disappointed. NWS is pathetic at best and any kind of crosswind situation is uncontrollable without jamming the brakes. Roll is incredibly sensitive, with constant trimming needed. HUD is just useless. Speed brake (not a spoiler btw) is erratic. Stall/spin issues really need to be sorted in the flight model.

The Texan is nothing more then the Pilatus PC9 manufactured under licence in the USA, probably with some modification for US need.
@jonbeckett9 ай бұрын
I asked the mighty Google Bard the question - it said: The Texan II is heavily based on the Pilatus PC-9 Mk II. Raytheon licensed the design of the PC-9 and subsequently modified it extensively to meet the specific requirements of the US Air Force and Navy. These modifications include a more powerful engine, upgraded avionics, a redesigned cockpit, and a strengthened airframe. So, while the Texan II is not technically a Pilatus aircraft, it shares a strong genetic lineage with the PC-9. You could consider it a heavily modified and significantly improved version of the Swiss trainer.

Gotta be honest with you, a developer blaming the anti-aliasing is a pretty bad look. All the aircraft in the game have to deal with the AA, and I don't hear every developer blaming their problems on it.
@jjsmallpiece92349 ай бұрын
I bought this aircraft - not impressed. I find it hard to believe that the flight model is accurate. For a training/student aircraft real aircraft are usually quite docile and easy to handle. To enter an uncontrolled flight attitude so easily would be a killer for a low hours student pilot. RAF pilot white gloves - they do wear white gloves - in fact they are more cream coloured than white. They are made from thin leather so there is still some element of feel when touching switches and buttons. There main purpose is in being fire retardent, should it become unpleasant in the cockpit. Aircrew gloves are quite prized possessions for ground crew, as it means most of your work can still be done but not get your hands dirty. I have 2 or 3 pairs from my days in a blue suit. Woe betide any student pilot putting his gloves down in the flight line office , as he 'signs' the aircraft back over to the ground crew after a flight. A moments in attention and the gloves disappear and everybody denies all knowledge of the gloves. Alternatively you need to get to know the survival equipment/flying clothing guys who might just give you a pair of flying gloves.

Maybe it's me but... I don't own any military aircraft in FS2020 because they don't do what they're designed to do. It's like having a commercial aircraft, and the autopilot doesn't work. Military aircraft are designed to track the air and ground and neutralize enemy threats. These aircraft don't do any of that, so I'm not wasting my cash. I spend that money on aircraft in DCS. That's just my two cents.

@zorbakaput85379 ай бұрын
@@richardstoffel6585 Correct so what's the point of having neutered military aircraft in it? A kitfox or a Beaver makes much more sense in FS20. That's why military aircraft work and fly so well in DCS and most flight simmers enjoy both sims for what they excel at not what they are mediocre at attempting to deliver

Each to their own. I enjoy flying my Hawk from Valley, through the Mach Loop and around Scotland, none of which can be done in DCS. And flying is flying, the training skills developed in MSFS will mostly transfer to DCS.
