I was super excited to get my hands on one of these Through Dovetail Jigs from Leigh. I've been super happy with my box joint/beehive jig and was waiting for this. Leigh did not disappoint. It's just as simple and easy to use as the B975 Box Joint Jig and it comes in at just as nice of a price point.
This is a great entry level dovetail jig. It comes with everything you need to get up and running except for a (super simple to put together) shop made beam. You can even use a common 2x4 in a pinch. With Leigh's patented e10 Elliptical guide bushing it's easy to dial in the perfect fit for your joint.
The Leigh Model TD330 Through Dovetail Jig is easy to use and affordable. Two carbide-tipped dovetail and straight router bits make joints in board widths up to 12-7/8" and board thicknesses up to 13/16" right out of the box. The adjustable side stop positions the tail and pin boards for perfect board edge alignment.
Includes: glass-reinforced nylon Template, e10 Elliptical Guide Bushing, Pin Wrench, 1/2" 8° Dovetail Bit 1/2" Straight Bit, two Side Stops and fully illustrated User Guide.
Check these out at your local Woodcraft store or online at the link below.

Gifkins system is simpler to set up and use, with the added advantage that the router remains in the route table

Looks to be based on the Gifkins through dovetail system, and more difficult to set up.

Only thing you didn't cover was the swapping of bits when it came to routing pins.

Excellent video, researching this and I think this is the model I’m going to go with. Again, great job. Only part I kind of don’t understand was the turning of the stop bushing. Do you not have to do that when doing it on the router table (my planned method). I’m going to go look up the manual and see if that info is covered there.

Yes, the same thing applies to the bushing when it's in the router table. The manual is VERY good with explanations and pictures.

I have been trying to use this jig for a month now and I still can’t make the tails and pins fit properly. I have read and listened to the excellent Manuel I received wit( the jig. However not matter what I try I cannot make a good fitting joint. I’m about to try using a normal guid bushing and see what happens. As far as I. An figure that fancy guide bushing must be my problem.

I would not recommend it, you really need the stability from the 1/2" to get well fitting dovetails.

Are the guide bushings in the box compatible with a palm router? A Bosch Colt.
@WoodcraftSupply
@WoodcraftSupply 2 жыл бұрын
It looks like you can get a subbase for the colt that uses the standard Porter Cable Threaded guide bushings but it doesn't look like it will work out of the box. www.routerforums.com/threads/template-guides-for-bosch-colt.7622/

Are dovetail joints only made to be on the ends of boards? Does it not work right if you do all 4 sides of one board??
@WoodcraftSupply

You probably could but that would be hard to get everything to line up properly.
