Nice little features! I'm just getting to know my SQ7 so pretty excited to upgrade and try the new features.

Not a bad package. I think you'll find that the Fixed Channel setting on the RTA is more intended for using a measurement mic to ring out a room/mics; this way you can adjust the EQ on a mic channel while seeing what comes back in your super-flat measurement mic's channel.

Hello. I have the SQ5 and I read in A&H firmware instruction that this update is not ready for new Mac Sonoma OS. IT SAY updating is not recommended. Do you know anything about it. I would love to have all these features. Thanks for your knowledge.
@Johnbanthony8 ай бұрын
This is going to be in reference to using the mixer with a mac on Sonoma. If you’re using the mixer without connecting to a computer, I would not worry about updating. This is mainly going to be when using the mixer with SQ Mixpad or as a usb interface on a macbook or desktop. Generally with our industry, most companies don’t recommend performing major OS updates when they’re initially released. You’ll see this commonly with plugin companies. It’s a good rule of thumb not to upgrade your OS until you can verify all your software and plugins are compatible with the update.

I would love to get an SQ-07 for my home studio, especially my big electronic drum set, but im feeling that it would be waaaaay beyond my skill set :(

They’re great to use as a recording interface with a daw. The next few videos we have coming out on sq are based around using it with a computer

For a small home studio, should I purchase the SQ-5? Also, can I setup native instruments and/or Luna with SQ-5?
@Johnbanthony4 жыл бұрын
Any of the SQs would be great for a home studio. SQ5 has enough onboard preamps to cover a drumkit in most situations and possibly the rest of a band as well. It also doubles as a DAW controller. It will work with playback for Native Instruments, whether inside a DAW or as a stand-alone of Kontakt. It will not work with Luna as that requires a Universal Audio interface to work. If you’re looking for a free or inexpensive DAW, you can use Garageband, or Reaper

I'm looking to buy one of these but I'm looking for a Solo button. How do you solo a channel with this both as an analog mixer and while using DAW mode? The word "solo" is not in the user manual. As in, when you press the solo button on a channel, it mutes all other channels not selected as "Solo".
@Johnbanthony4 жыл бұрын
Hey Nicholas, thanks for watching. It’s common for live boards to have a PAFL or PFL button rather than a solo button. This accomplishes the same thing, where it mutes the other channels. All 3 SQs have PAFL buttons for when you’re using the board, and DAW Control mode can utilize these for soloing in your DAW as well. I’m currently working on a video for setting up SQs as a DAW Controller. I’ll be sure to include this in the video. Allen and Heath does have a support article on this as well.

Hi. Do we need two aux sends for a stereo mix for in-ear monitors? Can you make a video on how to set it up? We have the SQ7 and 2 DX168.
@Johnbanthony4 жыл бұрын
Hey Jimanuel, we can make a video on this. The short version is to go to: Setup then Mixer Config then Mix Stereo. Here you can change Groups, Auxes and Matrixes between mono and stereo. Select the Auxes you’ll be using for Sereo in ears and then hit apply. This can be done on the board itself or on Mixpad. After you do that, head to the I/O screen to patch in the outputs. You’ll see now that your Auxes have Left and Right patch points.

I'm trying to work out how to see the RTA, even though i have it turned on I'm still not seeing it
@Johnbanthony4 жыл бұрын
Hey Ross, once you’re in the RTA menu for the PEQ screen, make sure you press the RTA ON button to the right of the Source Options. You can see it on screen at 01:15 in the video. The rta menu is accessed from the rta button to the right of the EQ controls on the channel parametric EQs. Let me know if that doesn’t clear it up for you.
