I think the animatronics look impressive… Possibly unpopular opinion… What story are the imagineers trying to tell? To me imagineering is about telling a story, and I don’t feel like a story was developed. The final show scene is beautiful and impressive, but up until that point, I feel like there was a lot of wasted time that could have told a meaningful story.

Splash Mountain had a better storytelling, for sure. And more Animatronics. Princess Tiana deserved a really new ride and not just a sort of makeover. Well, just my opinion. I have 50 years visiting WDW once a year and I think there are some attractions that You can set as “classics”. Pirates, Mansion, Big Thunder, etc… Splash Mountain, for me, had that status. It was a classic! You can improve, add new effects, do such things, but never get rid of them. But, again, It’s just an opinion from an old (and I mean it) Disney fan. Have fun, folks! ✌️

Thank you for the video Kyle!! As someone whos got anxiety and doesn’t like drops it’s so nice to still be able to see the full ride like this!! I think the animatronics are amazing and that last scene was soo beautiful!! I never got to ride the original Splash so I can’t really weigh in with other peoples opinions about it being changed but I loved watching it!

The main problem with the attraction is the amount of dead space within the first 4 minutes of the ride. Before the second drop, there is about 3 15 second intervals of pitch black scenery before they transition to the auto animatronics. They could have utilized the space for more story telling with the critters if they are going to use that storyline rather than leaving it blank. Don’t care much about the story but wasting that amount of space is absurd

Sorry to say this, but this ride is a bust! No excitement, no real reason to ride it more than once. Dr. Facilier would have spiced up this ride, especially for the Halloween season. Also give me some characters like Ray and more Mama Odie. Thanks for filming it for us Kyle.

It's so bad Kyle! I'm really surprised you liked it. It's like a slightly souped up version of Na'vi River Journey. Nothing happens in each of the scenes, whereas SO much was happening in each scene on Splash Mountain. It's just Tiana constantly explaining (in a way that makes it sound like she's talking to preschoolers) that she needs to find some very mediocre limited-movement critter animatronics to play at her party

If you watch the side by side videos, every place it was “empty” in Splash is also “empty” in Tiana’s. Every place that had animatronics in Splash has animatronics in Tiana’s.

Disney set the bar and now consistently comes way under it. The story has about as much depth as the flume itself and without Dr. Facilier, it’s plain boring. Friends on the Other Side is one of the best songs in the film and the fact they didn’t use that for one of the drops, is soooo disappointing. I mean it writes itself…”are you ready?” “I got friends on the other side?” It’s so on the nose. It should be Dr. Facilier who turns riders into frogs (which is what I’m assuming happens during the Honey I Shrunk the Audience portion of the attraction) and Mama Odie who brings them back during the final drop. The animatronics are amazing and I’m glad they invested the money into them but even they can’t save the lack of a good, coherent story which used to be Disney’s bread and butter. A story needs exposition, CONFLICT, rising action, a climax and resolution. I wouldn’t be as critical if I knew Disney wasn’t capable of it, but they are and should be held to their own standard. I think we will look back and consider this the Disney Dark Ages…or at least I hope so because I think with this, the gutting of live entertainment and the dragonless Fantasmic we have hit the bottom. I really wanted to like this too since this is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time.

NOLA girl here... I like the jazz music and the cypress trees with the moss. The water color is pretty good too but should be a bit more green. The beignets in the queue look great! And I love the Mardi Gras party! I have to say that I was disappointed by all the red dirt left over from Splash. I understand it's probably time saving and budget cuts that most people wouldn't notice, but I definitely do. Our dirt is nearly black. Also, it feels as though there are just too many flowers everywhere, as a cheap filler. I love that Leah Chase Jr sings "Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans" through the queue, but it's slow and doesn't give hype for the ride. I met Austin at church once when I was visiting on vacation! Nice to see him in the vlog.

I love your enthusiasm. But I saw the full ride POV the other day and was quite upset and all the missed opportunities in it. It is boring to be honest, where is Prince Naveen? WAY at the end! Where is Dr. Facilier?? Not anywhere! Where is the story of the movie that Disney is famously for? There were so many dead spots, very little going on. Whitel I appreciate the work that went into it, it seems like a cheap overlay. Or maybe a big aisle of Hobby Lobby. Pro was the ending scene. I wish they would have done more througout the ride. When the POV was released there were a few thousand comments and they all didn't like it.

Just an fyi, this ride was not the same story as the movie we all know. They specifically said that it was to take place after the storyline of the movie. Dr. Facilier is captured by his shadow and dragged into the voodoo world, where his soul will remain forever. It was not expected for him to have an appearance on this ride as it would make no sense.

But this isn't the first time Disney has avoided villains in a recent new ride. The Tangled storyline was heavily pruned for the new Tokyo ride (at the same time the Tokyo Frozen ride is a full retelling of the movie so it's not a comprehensive new policy 😜).

this is by far the best POV i’ve seen you did the ride justice- i will say it’s definitely more for the little kids and it can be an upbeat relaxing type of ride. i think we’re all so used to the dark elements of the story line in the old ride i think it will grow on people as time goes on. change is tough i also used to love splash mountain myself.

I myself don’t care for this ride from what I’ve seen of it but I can absolutely understand how people can like the ride given the impressive animatronics ( which people aren’t giving Disney enough credit for imo) and good interior atmosphere.

Actually, our splash closed in January 2023 Disneyland is the one that closed in May of 2023

I got to ride this yesterday during my CM preview and I loved it. I have a few things I’d like to be better, and I’m not obsessed with the screen portion, but I think the re-theme is great. We had a delay of about 30 mins in the line, but we still got on within an hour of waiting. I just wish they would’ve worked on the actual track more, as it seems it’s still giving the same issues Splash did.

I think visually it is very colorful and beautiful and yes, there are pockets. Nothing really happened but then you come upon more animatronics and the drops. I think it's very beautiful. Well done and you, Kyle you filmed it just great. Good job.

You can see 2 things if you are a long time viewer...1 your Grandpa was a very sweet loving man. #2 You loved and respected him very much! His sweatshirt will be a very sweet reminder of him and his commitment to you. You have been so lucky to have your grandparents in your life so long. I lost mine in my teens along with my father. And I lost my mom around your age. Cherish the moments!! Never take it for granted sweetie. At the age of 59 I look back at those days having everyone around me with found memories and long for them everyday. May the Lord bless you and comfort you during your loss. I think it looks great!! I don’t know what people were expecting we all knew it was gonna be the same exact ride just a new theme. For the quick turnaround I think the colors look great and it has fun music, nothing has changed as far as attraction layout they are the same ride in that regard. I can’t wait to experience this ride for myself!

The ride looks okay. Could’ve been better. They could’ve added the shadow man and all the voodoo stuff just before the big drop. This lacks a good storyline and isn’t even aligned with the Princess and the Frog film. Also looks weird in the Splash Mountain track and surroundings, which were built specifically for that. Such as Brer Rabbit being dropped into the Briar Patch. Overall this lacks the Disney magic. Too many blank spaces. And the music doesn’t have that Laughin Place feel to it.
