love the idea of the gig bar. id be more into a base/bar that you could interchange and pick what fixtures you want. i'm not a fan or the lasers and the mushroom type fixtures but would love to be able to add or take away fixtures to suit.

My main complaint with the Gig bar move was the moving heads as well.. Gonna try and sell the move and pick up the newer version.. that’s a big difference

I am a mobile DJ and own the Move, my main issue with it was being able to do a white spotlight with it, apart from the moving heads not being ao bright. Can I program a spotlight set up to one of the pre-programmed numbers on the RF. Because if I can its game over. 😁

Hi thanks for vid, can you use a strobe effect with a press of the remote, if you are singing to a backing track and half way through the song you want a white strobe to come on for a few seconds? Regards,

Can you dim the lights on the entire gigbar plus from the remote? Or do you need DMX hooked up to dim the lights? If not, you may be stuck in a situation where they are too bright. Thanks

Nice. I was just looking at a gig bar idea today as my normal small DJ setup was going to be rented out next weekend. I remembered the basic Gig Bar (without moving heads) and looking further I did find the gig bar move. Watching your review, the 10W moving heads do seem underpowered for some situations. I have 4 Chauvet Intimidator Spot Duos so I know how effective a 30W beam is for those. Did some digging and found this new fixture. Looks perfect for some of my scenarios. I ordered one and I’m looking forward to it arriving. I’m in Canada so don’t ask what I paid. But I have a business so it’s all expenses & depreciated at tax time anyway.

I'm not sure if they've fixed the biggest issue I had with them - no slow moving effects and no fades. When you go into a slow song you don't want things flying all over the place. I have to put it on a solid color. The bag also sucks.

This GIGBAR has been upgraded to snap/fade the colors (even in the derbies.) you can also adjust speed of all the shows.

I have the Jmaz Versa Flex Bar with the Quad 19 pars added to it for a good floor wash. It's KILLING the gig bar move.

@@ClevelandTerry here's my take on the pars: They offer 4 different pars and the Versa Flex Bar let's you attach two above and two below. The Tron 7 par is 50/50 eye candy and wash effect. It has 7, 10watt LEDs with a crazy honey comb overlay. The Quad 19 has 19, 10watt LEDs and is all wash effect. The Tri 220 has 220 RGB LEDs and is all eye candy. The Duo 324 is similar to the 220 but has 324 warm white and cool white LEDs.

Was seriously thinking of getting this... But I am not convinced with ILS... It's a proprietary protocol that's very limited in execution. I think I will stick with DMX. But the brighter moving heads sounds good though!

u can still use this unit through dmx. ILS is not a replacement for dmx.

I think it has unused potential. IF the fixtures already have some possibility of receiving wireless signal, why don't they have both ILS and wireless DMX, so I can buy a D-Fi transmitter and control all the lights via DMX without additional DMX receivers at each light...

theres a lot more than a 'couple of watts'. Color mixing RGB fat beam laser, hex pars, 32W movers, built-in DFI transmitter, included RF remote, etc.

ok ILS seems neat if they can get other companies on board. It seems like a downgrade from DMX control, but as he says, that is not what they are designed for. Idk. I'll hold my judgement for your in depth review of this product

No other company will be "on board". The ILS protocol was designed and developed by Chauvet for Chauvet to make mobile setups appear to have a DMX-programmed show without the use of DMX. It will never be compatible with anything other than ILS fixtures.

That's actually not what he said. He was explaining the new ILS ecosystem and how it works. You don't have to sell your old lights and buy this if you don't want to.

@@reissallan my take on this is that all of the ILS is complelty useless without the new gigbar, so if you already have a move that isn't appealing. Also if you don't have a gigbar but you like the sound of this new ILS stuff you still gotta spend mad money on the newest gigbar to control the actual lights you wanted to get. It only makes sense from a money making angle, for the consumer is doesn’t make sense. The gigbar is marketed as an all in one solution so making it the brains of everything is kind of admitting that it isn't an all in one and you're gonna have to upgrade at some point.

I was responding and accidentally hit the wrong button. I had no idea that Apple buys back their items and I’ve been an avid Apple fan for many years. Ya learn something every day! I don’t know of a single other tech manufacturer (other than Apple that sells direct) that buys back their product and Chauvet is no different. DeWalt? Samsung? Keurig? Ford? Pioneer DJ? American DJ? Most manufacturers wouldn’t be in business if they bought back their own product.

The point that I was making was that there is a track record of chauvet coming out with a product, say that’s rgb only, lower wattage, then coming out with a new one with better lights, UV or hex etc., that is exactly what everyone wanted in the first place. You can literally set your watch by it. Could they have just come out with that version? Yes, but they don’t because…business. This is coming from someone that owns dozens of chauvet products ranging from low end to high end.

@@scratchgonzo Add up the cost of 2 spots, 2 hex washes, an RGB laser, 2 kintas and the cost is $2170. The GigBar is $1300 and also includes an RF remote, tripod, wireless footswitch and carry case. No one is forcing you to buy anything, but the math proves that you save 67% if you need the same equipment and purchased it all separately. Happy Giggin'!

@@scratchgonzo Sorry but your math is incorrect. Purchasing 2 GIGBARMOVE+ILS means you'll have 4 moving heads, 4 washes, 4 derbies and 2 lasers which come out to $4340 MAP if purchased separately. The cost of 2 GIGBARMOVE+ILS is $2600 which is a savings of 67%.

Good idea on M heads upgrade but I dont get the ils thing and he did not mention the footswitch? I thought if you put in any wireless or wire into back of any fixture in master slave it did this same thing anyway? I dont understand what extra ils does apart from make everyone who owns any kind of light have to sell them to control with this. also if they are wireless why not have them build in a reciever which they know you need to buy extra to contol them?. and 400 extra are you kidding?? - the other version was overpriced and the bag is under more strain than kim kardasians bra?

The footswitch is also included as well as an RF handheld remote. A typical master/slave setup is only the same fixture type. ILS allows you to mix and match different fixtures in a master/slave setting for the first time (never been done before). The slave units (Kinta, Swarm, etc) can be used like a normal light so if we were to build in the wireless receiver into them, everyone would be paying for it but possibly not needed. This means higher prices for everyone, which is not ideal. If you add up the MAP price on x2 SPOT160ILS, a SCORPIONDUALRGB laser, you're already at the cost of the GIGBAR, then the GIGBAR adds on 2 hex pars, 4 strobes, 2 derbies, a DFI transmitter and RF remote. Very good price if you do the math and see what each item would cost if purchased separately.

@@reissallan you are kidding right ...the price of the other move was over a grand when that came out and now thats hundreds cheaper ...this aint worth more than 700. its too over priced you can get much better fixtures for less ... 2 really good movers. if it had built in wireless communication that eliminated the need for wires then ok but you still have to spend hundreds on di fi or whatever if you have two of these taking it to 3 grand and thats ridculous for what it is.. You defend this fixture completely but the last one aftr the gig bar 2 whih was good was flawed and badly made - (you could not fade on remote or turn off the strobe it was just a blinging piece of chinese crap and the bag was crap it should come in a hardcase at this price. it aint roadworthy enough . I will wait see if there are any glitches like last time and wait for price to drop. Chavet are gettin like apple bringing out new versions all the time - just listen to people who use and buy their stuff and fix what does not work ffs - the other company has a bar that does all this that you can change fixtures on n thats a really good idea cos it means you dont have to ditch the entire thing like the last poor suckers that bought that flawed move fixture last time out ,,,,and still no spotlight setting. Its not rocket science to do these things as other companies do it.

Here is something nobody has answered. The new gig bar + old is much better than the regular gig bar move. The movers are WAY brighter on the new one, the laser lights are brighter and over all a better build on the mover housing.
