Fresh from the launch, Ducati has confirmed they will be putting the new DesertX Rally variant to the test at the demanding NORRA Mexican 1000. Piloting a pair of race-prepped DesertX Rally bikes in the prestigious Pro Rally Class will be two experienced and passionate American riders selected by Ducati: Pro rider Alexander Smith and ADV Pulse journalist and privateer racer Steve Kamrad. You can find a lot of the components like the carbon fiber tank, dual filter system, tower kit etc at aurora-rallyusa.com/. Other parts not there can be purchased through each of the corresponding manufacturers.

Seems like the suspension was bottoming out quite a bit; at least it sounded like it. Loving that gas tank/air filter comb! Too bad we can't get some sort of non-race version of that. Such a cool machine!

The cool thing is that all the parts, including the full carbon fiber tank, navigation tower etc are available for purchase.

A liitle tip dont jump and let the side stand hit a rock at its mounting point or drop it if the side stand lands on a rock, the side stand is bolted into the engine casing and it will snap and put a hole in the rear of the engine, second time ive heard now of a hole in the engine case from a drop or hitting a rock from a jump with the side stand making contact being ridden offroad hard

I hate that intake location all the way in the front of the bike. It's just going to suck in all the dirt and everything.

very bad designe that ram air desighne at front of bike its going to vacume every bit of dust in to the air filter. rest of bike looks good. i will be interested to see if it makes it to the finish with that designe.

The air intake has a water trap and it feeds air in front of the air filter, not after it. On the other hand, there is also a twinair mesh preventing the dust from flooding the filter. Add to that the fact that the Aurora setup has dual filters (the intake is actually two filters, one on top, the one that you see on the tank and another in the OEM position, and it's quite tough for anything to enter the engine. There is also a provision to close the air duct in really tough conditions. We've been testing this for over a year now.

@@mits66 that makes sense looked like you just had one filter, i have done a mod to the air box on my T7 with a dna air filter in, i am using a twin air dust cover to help the filter out in the dust. the mod makes a big difference to the torqe and peak torque is 1200 revers lower and holds it there for 3,000 rpm.
