Was not expecting this much gain from this pedal! I feel like there are a multitude of better options for this level of drive. 90 percent of Timmy fanatics are not using it this way...I always thought the Timmy was low gain sweet overdrive
@jakollee
@jakollee 4 жыл бұрын
Very true! I have a Timmy and never push the gain past noon. With the gain around 11 o'clock and the toggle switch in the middle ("open") position, it just brings my guitar sound to life, gives it some sparkle and an "edge of breakup" sound. Weird that all the demos I've seen of this mini version have the gain so high.

@Crescent_Audio

It’s basically a tone-sculpting tool, the gain and volume are Interactive, the volume is at 0 dB at 12-o’clock, and in this one the bass and treble are cut only as you turn them counter-clockwise. The dip-switch goes from asymmetrical clipping (left) to symmetrical low compression (middle) to symmetrical heavy compression (right). It gets gnarly when you crank the gain, and this is easily my favorite pedal besides my waza craft tuner.
@patricktracy1966
@patricktracy1966 2 жыл бұрын
This pedal ships with a manual that is all "Don't electrocute yourself" with nothing specific to the pedal in it. So THANK YOU for figuring out that the bass and treble knobs are "cut only". I saw another review of this pedal where the guy was telling us those knobs boost bass and treble! They don't. This is a sweet OD that is like the Nobels but maybe even smoother.

It's supposed to be transparent but that's the second video that sounds like a fuzzy mess. Perhaps I don't want a Timmy after all. Too much bass on the controls?
@jorismak
@jorismak 4 жыл бұрын
keep the gain lower, raise the level (to overdrive your amp also a bit), keep the bass way lower, tweak treble to taste.. it's that transparent (bleh, stupid word) sound you expect of it. I run mine into a Victory countess in the clean channel set just _before_ breakup... After a while I forget it's one.. it's just 'my tone'. I never raised the gain past noon yet.. Yes, it turns fuzzy if you raise the gain and leave too much bass in. Bass complete to the right is 'no bass cut' (like the original Timmy bass complete to the left).. and every OD needs a bit of bass cut.
@Grant_Ferstat
@Grant_Ferstat 4 жыл бұрын
@@jorismak Yep. Most people just simply don't turn the Timmy bass and treble cuts enough to match the gain setting. They treat it like most pedals which have limited EQ range and the bass pre-chopped like a TS. The Timmy isn't like that at all.

I can't afford a les Paul so I found this was a great vessel for mods and I got pretty close. Thanks for the vid. Also I'm trying to decide between an OCD and a timmy and this vid really helped .🎸🎼🎵🎶🎶🎶

Hey man! The bass and treble, like you said is cut only. So, it's never boosting. It's not cutting at all when it's at max. if you put at 12 o clock, it's cutting, but if you put it to 3 o clock, it's cutting less, right?

I love John and his playing but this just isn't a good demo. Timmy controls are really wide ranging cut controls. With the gain up that high you'd really want to be cutting both bass and treble a LOT more to avoid both fizz and flub. If the best demo guys seem to get this wrong with the Timmy because they treat it like say a TS where you have a lot less bass to begin with, and tone knobs with less range.
