I have the M2000 and M3000 on unlimited AT&T network. Both devices are really good, however the M3000 is slightly better. You get Ethernet capability, finds 5G a little quicker, and a little faster in mbps speed. I went with AT&T on a really affordable plan and coverage is pretty good. T-Mobile is much more faster….however, for me….coverage is more important than speed. Anyways, you can’t go wrong with either device. I do recommend running the battery down to 10% occasionally.

Hi! I'm switching from Verizon to T-Mobile and bringing my Orbic Speed 5G hotspot device. Is there a big difference in speed with the Inseego MiFi X Pro compared to the Orbic Speed 5G on T-mobile's network? Is it worth upgrading to the Inseego device when I purchase my plan?
@MobileInternetResourceCenter
@MobileInternetResourceCenter Жыл бұрын
The Orbic Speed 5G is a Verizon optimized device... it's really not suitable for T-Mobile as it's missing key frequency band support such as n71. We wouldn't recommend it. It's also only a X55 modem, whereas the MiFi X Pro is X65 - which is more advanced. No external antenna? No sale. We boondock out beyond the fringe, and the ability to use high gain yagi or dish antennas is a must.
@gf2e
@gf2e Жыл бұрын
With all the new bands, and the MIMO antenna support, I’m wondering how many places an external directional antenna is actually going to improve. Most directional antennas don’t cover any of the newer exotic bands. I like the idea of a waterproof enclosure that I can use to put it on a temporary pole so it’s outside and in the air.
@MobileInternetResourceCenter
@MobileInternetResourceCenter Жыл бұрын
A modern sub-6 5G antennas covers all relevant bands of the carriers. The problem with hotspots is there is typically only room for two external ports, but advanced LTE and 5G benefit from 4.
@gf2e
@gf2e Жыл бұрын
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter Nice. It’s quite likely that I was looking at the wrong places. Wide band with decent gain from a single antenna is challenging enough that I’m also kinda pessimistic. I remember when Pringles can antennas were all the rage for WiFi. They were directional, of course, but a lot of them had worse gain than the omnidirectional antennas they replaced.

@@gf2e We’re out where if we were 20 miles closer, we’d be able to consistently get 1 bar. Maybe. Very high gain antennas is a must. Then again, we’re trying Starlink RV…
@gf2e
@gf2e Жыл бұрын
@@robertschulke1596 Ahh, yeah, I can see that. I’m in the Midwest where I think it’s generally hard to get 20 miles away from cellular unless you have some very good off road capabilities. I’m going to be spending some time out west next year and wondering if I will regret not having any high gain antennas anymore. Re: long distance, I’m remembering a really nifty thing they did in Australia with 2G. GSM 2G didn’t account for the delay of a signal going between your handset and the tower. This wasn’t a problem in urban areas or even most rural. But in rural Australia, if you had a strong (car mounted most likely) phone, the delay between you and the tower could be high enough that you’d start to transmit during the next person’s timeslot. What they did was design new tower radios that only used every other time slot, and could also figure out that your signal was seriously delayed. Half the capacity per unit of spectrum but, so few people that you wouldn’t need it.

Trying our 2nd Inseego/T-Mobile M3100 unit out and experiencing problems again.😞 The T-Mobile salesperson who helped us with the purchase of the first one suggested I perform a factory reset, but it didn't resolve the problem. Inseego tech support didn't have any suggestions other than to exchange it for another unit through T-Mobile. We just received our replacement unit today and started using it. Within an hour, it completely shut off. We are giving it a few more days to see what happens. If we return this for a refund, then it's back to "square one"... UGGH!

2nd unit still not functioning properly and Inseego has not returned ANY of my emails nor calls since initial contact. Fortunately, T-Mobile allowed me to return it for a full refund. Although the M3000 is relatively new, the salesman at T-Mobile told me they have had numerous problems with the M2000 units as of late and they no longer carry it. NOGO for Inseego... searching for a more reliable manufacturer!

I wonder if you can hack the damn thing to force frequency band changes, if there's a particular band on LTE or even 5G that is faster than everything else. Because as it stands right now you'll connect to the strongest signal without actually realizing that that strongest signal is probably not going to be the fastest signal.
