T-Mobile officially stopped selling the Inseego M2000 5G mobile hotspot in early 2022. That said, the item is still very viable in 2023 as it reliably delivers high speed mobile data with upload speeds sufficient to support video conferencing with Microsoft Teams, Cisco WebEx, Apple FaceTime, screen sharing and remote access via Teamviewer or other remote access apps.
In my experience as an IT Field Engineer, this requires a minimum of 5Mbps upload. While this does not seem like much, I have found it harder to get a cellular signal with better than 5Mbps upload than it is to get 75Mbps download.
So doe the Inseego M2000 deliver? Yes, it does. I've used it in data centers around Metro-Atlanta, remote sites in Alabama and Georgia all with reliable results. That said, there are times when no adequate signal can be obtained, but that is not often the case. This unit was purchased used, but still new in the box, via Facebook Marketplace for $80 - a good price given that 5g hotspots can easily run over $200 and $300.
Please like & subscribe, and I will do the same for you to build up your channel even as you help me build up mine.

Thank you for the video. Do you need to buy a data plan with the device?

Yes, but T-Mobile is flexible. All my cell phone lines are on AT&T. I have just a mobile data plan on T-Mobile for 100GB/mos of 5g/LTE data for $56.40 (that’s everything including taxes and junk fees). I didn’t find anything better. Other carriers want to force you to have a phone in addition to the hotspot.

Great review, per your experience and usage, is the Tmobile Hotspot 100 GB plan for $50.00/month a decent option?

Yes, that is exactly the plan I have been using for roughly two years. In my line of work, I often find my AT&T signal to be too weak for remote access or video conference. The AT&T download speeds are fine and can sometimes hit 300Mbps, but the upload speed is the critical metric for WebEx, Teams, FaceTime, etc, and AT&T is often at 1-3Mbps for upload even when the download speed is robust. The T-Mobile upload speed regularly hits 8-12 Mbps on average and 5Mbps on the "low" side. I have found that 5Mbps is the bare minimum to have remote access work and video conferencing work adequately. Sometimes neither deliver the necessary speeds, but T-Mobile is much more reliable. As of rate data allotment, I don't use up the 100GB limit. It would be nice if the unused portion rolled over.

would i be able to just use just a regular sim card plan. i have the magenta plan that comes with 100gb of internet and 5gb of fast hotspot. Or will it be slow?? idk

From what I can tell, the speeds on the magenta plan are very good. Now, I’m not sure if your SIM card was designed for a cell phone or if it is a data only SIM like mine. I haven’t tried putting in a cell phone SIM card to see if that will work. One thing I did see, while doing some research on this, is that T-Mobile is planning a low-key way to increase rates for various plants, including the magenta. Will it work when type c usb is plugged in and no battery?

If you connect a USB type C cable into the port, and the other end is plugged into another device like a smart phone, it will act as a charge port, and charge that device. It will also continue to work as a hotspot. It performs both functions simultaneously. I am very pleased with this device

It really will vary per area. However, I assure you that more often than not, you’re going to see this device out perform AT&T or Verizon. This will especially be true on the upload. For me, upload is everything. You need a minimum 5 Mbps to do a semi-decent teams meeting, WebEx, or other type of video conference. I have often said myself that I would rather have the lower speed on the download and get the performance on the upload. 15 Mbps is a dream at most job sites I do. That allows me to send high-quality images as deliverables, and have them upload in seconds, as opposed to wandering around the building or in front waiting minutes for several pictures to upload. I can do all this uploading wall being in the video conference and doing an effective screen share of my laptop or allowing remote access through my laptop. I can do all that from that performance that you said you got on your test of the hotspot. Often times, ATT or Verizon would give me a very fast download but only 2-3 Mbps on the upload. That is useless for video conferencing.

Work with any carrier?

I spoke with T-Mobile support. They said that MIFI devices like this are not locked to T-Mobile. They are either paid off and can be used elsewhere at the owner's discretion, or they are on an installment plan and cannot be taken off the T-Mobile account . Customer service said it "should" be able to be used elsewhere, but the person I spoke with had no direct knowledge of that being done. If you're looking to use it with another carrier, bring the SIM card with you to test it out before buying it.
