@@colorrookie5539 I'm not talking about stock vs stock, but value for the money. the C6 Z06 is a lot lighter, and thus can be made fast more easily. Just needs power, aero, and suspension work. The fastest time attack cars in the US are C6 Z06s right now.

Yup, most people would actually prefer driving a 300-400hp car which weighs half or at least 400kg less than the oversize C8. Well, at least this will shut up Porsche once and for all. No way can they respond to this with any 911.

Creating order demand ahead of actual production helps the mfg in many ways. The advanced hype also helps drive up demand.

Austin are you gonna try buy the new ZR1? I picked up my 2024 Z06 convertible on Monday. All black exterior with red black interior. Chevrolet must say did great job with Z06 and impressive vehicle indeed.🤔

I doubt they would jump from 750hp c7zr1 to 1000hp! They all do it in 50 to 100hp jumps! The c7zo6 had 650hp the c8 670hp! The zora will be 1000hp with electric motors added to the zr1 800 to 850hp I'm guessing! But you could be right! Can't wait to see how it looks as we no it's going to have high hp! Re: the wing. It appears to me it is a winglet similar to what you see on airline jets. That would smooth out the air coming off the edge of the wing and reduce drag.

I am at loss on why Chevrolet seems to be rushing the ZR1 into production and then soon for retail and I'm pretty sure when dealerships start taking orders it will be a hot mess just like the ZO6 was who has the most money to put down for a deposit and who wants to pay the most over MSRP?

Chevrolet before every generation has a rollout plan. C7 generation followed the same plan. Almost each year a new version was released. When the C7 was first released, they were already working the on the C8. From the outside it may look rushed because of supply issues and such. But they are strategic in their rollouts. There are extenuating circumstances that may push a release to the right, but GM will still try to meet their projected timelines as much as possible

I would keep the c8z06. Once it’s unlocked TT and tune would put it at a easy 1,000 hp.

He’s already sold the Z06 a while back. Trying to TT a 5.5 liter FPC engine with a 12:5.1 compression ratio, reliably would be a nightmare. The LT6 is essentially maxed out from factory. You’d have to lower the compression, strengthen the internals even further, and lower the revs considerably to not destroy things by adding forced induction.

Nice analysis of the promo video Austin. In regard to whether this is the pinnacle for the C8, I'm wondering if GM has left room (at the top) for a Zora model that would add hybrid and/or AWD to the ZR1. No matter...ever since the launch (no pun) of the C8, these are very exciting times for Corvette.

Austin, on your video at 1:11 - 1:12 the turbos are spooling. You hear it, but also the smoke is spinning around like a turbo. Immediately after that the car launches and you hear the engine revving. The whole thing comes to a close with smoke spooling again and the Corvette logo finalizing its appearance at 1:22 on your video. I think Corvette is showing its a sub-10 second car!!! 9.8sec??

My understanding of the end plate purpose of the rear spoiler is to allow more air flow downforce to remain on the wing of the rear spoiler rather than letting it slip off the tip reducing maximum downforce, just like on today’s modern wing tips that extend vertically above and below the tip of each wing to increase airflow over and under the wing to maximize lift.

ZR1 is AWD with the E-Ray hybrid system. It simply can't beat the E-Ray in acceleration with RWD only. The "Unthinkable" is AWD on a ZR1.

I'm not sure of that. If you look at all the available photos and this silhouette, you can see the lack of the vertical cooler for the front drive motor that sits in front of the driver side radiator. I'd love to be wrong but I believe they are saving that for the "Zora"

I agree. It cannot beat the E-ray from 0-60 if it's not AWD. They just came out with a video of someone clocking the E-ray at 2.1 seconds 0-60. I just seen the Edmonds U-Drag on an E-Ray vs the McClaren 750s and it smoked it for a long time down the stretch. People don't realize that more power can actually decrease the 0-60 time due to the traction issues it creates. My grand sport c7 has close to 750hp and its tough to get 0-60 in under 3.5 due to the traction issues.

@@davidcarron23282.1 seconds was from the onboard telemetry data, which is known to be iffy/inaccurate. What Drive 615 likely got was a 2.5-2.4 0-60 run, which would be mighty impressive still. I doubt the ZR1 will be AWD, as that combined with twin turbos would make it absolutely portly in weight. With 800 horsepower and above, forced induction, and large sticky tires, the ZR1, even RWD only, would absolutely smoke the E-Ray in everything but the initial launch and keep on pulling, not having to worry about hitting a metaphorical wall like the E-Ray does once the hybrid motor disengages.

What other C8 Corvette has “under delivered”? The Stringray brought a sub-3 second 0-60 to the base model Corvette, is the most comfortable Corvette, and makes for a wonderful track car. The Z06 has the most powerful production N/A V8 ever made, a motor that is highly race derived, competes with high dollar exotics, and trades blows with the 992 GT3 RS in Z07 guise. The E-Ray is the most complex Corvette ever created, the quickest off the line, and offers hybrid super car performance that you couldn’t get anywhere else for less than $250K plus.

Corvette you're great it's blue body stylist phenomenon but whatever the ZR1 holds believe me the 2025 2026 Shelby mustang it's going to rip its doors up I've heard numbers of damn near 950 hp and 0 to 60 and 1.47 seconds and a standing quarter of a mile in 7.98 seconds flat at 164 trap

950 hp is nowhere near enough power to run a 7 sec 1/4 mile time in a sure to be 4,000 lb plus vehicle. Keep dreaming, it's not going to be a reality.

Mustang isn't a supercar, and not for great track times. It's a brochure or stoplight racer for teens and those still mentally at teen-level. I'm not saying it'll be a bad car per se, but it makes no sense. It's only for people with too much money and no control over their childish emotions...and a danger to everyone on the roads. At least the Camaro SS and ZL1 1LE were relatively affordable and were powered in a proportion to their track use.

The ZR1 have always been the best of the Corvette I had a 2013 C6ZR1 wish I would have never sold it. Car was the so fun to drive.
