The X-15 is carried by another plane and then released like it's shown at 1:00. At 1:07 it's the X-15 main engine that starts and propels the aircraft to space.

Kal El yes but when the X-15 is climbing without another plane, its looks like the same sound. Seems its Not a « rocket » sound, but a propeller sound, like DC-3 lol

Thomas Duplan Chris Hadfield debunked the sound of the X-15. He said there’s no way that the noise and vibrations are how they were portrayed.
