4:45 lol........ Mistaken Identity! That's great! I love it. This is exactly the types of things that went on. Whoops. I love how you just roll with it. If you look at it like part of the battle, it's fun! That's what they had to do. The Military has a technical term for it: SNAFU! I don't know. I think Bull Run might actually qualify for a FUBAR! I've made moves like this too. In this battle, you're bound to.

Oh yeah and then how does Beauregard teleport across the map to command an attack next? I've noticed this is a really big problem for the Rebs. They have a huge sprawling 'front' to defend but they only have 2 HQs. You're gonna be unable to do much along most of the line. I've noticed that with our Operational system that we are starting to think along the lines of making the HQs Hidden and actually in the Res. We might start thinking along these lines for a new PB edition later.

Excellent point. That when battle, the troops on the west flank never attacked, they had to stay on the defensive. Even Stuart had to just sit and guard the flank.

4:45 -Now here is an interesting question too: When / how do you have friendly fire? Here, I'd say no. I suspect Jones isn't going to take orders from Miles to attack the Rebs. Miles is going to be shocked and run back. He'd be lucky to not get captured! Now if a Reb HQ ordered the attack, well..... Then I'd resolve the combat. That could easily happen.

Friendly fire could occur, but it wouldn't generally result in a division sized formation being reduced in effectiveness. It might result in delays while they sort things out, which is precisely what happened in this instance, when it essentially delayed Beauregard's attack on the Union line by almost 2 hours.

Here's a thought: What if individual units not within command radius of an HQ but within LOS of an opposing unit rolled for initiative? Passing the initiative roll, that individual unit could attack or fire upon the other unit. It's a rough thought for consideration as it could also open up a can of worms but still worth possibly play testing.

Nice! We have a ton of ideas for making the game more combat focused. As tempting as they all are, once you open the door to those sorts of things you suddenly find yourself with a hundred pages of rules and a 12 hour playing time! That in itself is not necessarily a bad thing, but it is not Pub Battles. The litmus test I use is, "Does it significantly improve the game, such that playing without it is noticeably less fun?" The Baggage Train rules passed that test.

Okay, what’s with all the red and green blocks?
@SoloBattles2 жыл бұрын
Block colors (there are 5!) are the same for both sides. Adds to the historical confusion. It works because of the relatively low piece count.

Yeah, I notice your opening attack isn't possible. You don't have a HQ up there!

Fortunately, neither me, nor my opponent, noticed. 😄
