It's 7 years old?!... Geez, I feel hella old now! I've been playing (and building) for roughly 6 years... I remember starting up the first time, just before Beta 1.8 was released... That's a long time ago man... And it was before Sprinting.. I honestly had to look this up, since the oldest version I could remember, was 1.2.5, although I knew I had been playing before villages was added... Which they were waay before 1.2.5... My favorite version is probably the one I started with. That's where I have all my memories of my startup of Minecraft. Now I just like any version that adds anything new I can use building wise, but my favorite version is probably that of my memories :)

A lot of this isn’t accurate and I have been playing Minecraft for a while, when Minecraft lite was in the App Store, For example when Buzz looks in his inventory in the 2nd version he looks at there should not be a mask, there should’ve been a helmet icon. Also the sheep shouldn’t have any wool around there head.

I liked Beta 1.7 before creative and the adventure bullshit because they tried to force this realism aspect to the game that personally I never felt like was a thing needed for this game. Also the decent selection of blocks made it just enough for some creativity. No running but that's why you had carts and boatways.

Minecraft "short" history in a few words/sentences: Alpha: Peaceful, teamwork, adventure, building, "Surviving the Night"... Beta: Building together, Roleplay, Trading "shops" on servers, adventuring together... Kids was suprisingly nice... peaceful still... and friendly community... ... ... Nowadays: People calling you a hacker/cheater... you start out with "Kits" which makes you start out with OP crap... In-game purchases (I do understand that the owners have to make money), but they are still Op... Peace? wtf is that... Building... hmm... is that when you make a house then it gets destroyed within 2 hours? Roleplay...? No one knows what that is... Minigames... some are slightly good... 90% suck... Adventure... again... no one knows what that is... The most toxic community on any game i've every seen (H1Z1 is slightly worse)

i started not long before hunger was added, i goggled that and it was beta 1.8. and as for the minecraft was better then, the only thing that makes the older versions seem better is that it was when everything was new. its all about the players point of reference. when you first start things it feels more interesting or fun than a while later even when there are updates and things are added. so basically it was more fun then but not because it was any better just because we were new to the game.

I remember playing minecraft just a couple days after it was released as a downloadable game, not just on the website. Nostalgia is a bitch, but a good one. Anyways, the beta 1.5-ish area was my favorite time for minecraft, specifically because of the Better Than Wolves mod which added so much new and cool stuff to the game. Only problem was that you couldnt use it with pretty much any other mod than Risugami's Mod Loader. That part DID suck because it would have gone well with a couple of other up and coming mods that were soon on their way.
