First Ocean Sail | Catalina 25

I finally had our first ocean sail in our Catalina 25. With my wife out of town I was soloing it today, which might have been best. I motored down the Cape Fear, out the Western Bar Channel between Jay Bird Shoals and Oak Island, and around back to the Cape Fear River entrance.
It was bouncy and topsy-turvy, but the old C-25 handled it well. In fact, she did better than I did! It was a day of that taught me several lessons and things I need to pay attention to besides the wind and tides/currents.

our first boat was a c25. #3049. bought it new in the early eighties. sailed it hard in so, cal. hit all the islands. moved up to bigger boats. loved that one

We have really enjoyed it so far. I hope one day for a bigger boat...one I can stand up in! But after 15 years of being boat-less (used to have a MacGregor 21 then a Catalina 22) this has been a great boat to get us back into the sport of sailing and to relearn those skills. Thanks for watching!

Good place for the traveler but it's probably not the poptop model.

No, not the postoperative model. Though I would say l loved the pop top on our '88 Catalina 22. Made overnights much more comfortable.
