spreading some 18-6-12 with a vicon wag tail spreader.

@@Canningfarms we have a great bank of grass at the minute we close up early every year so have the grass for ewes and lambs they won2t be long going trew it🤣. when they get trew it we put the fertilizer on. most of our cows not calving to may a few before then.

Great video Gavin , do you measure grass or eyeball it, and do you graze off the silage ground or leave it in the spring, aye those ag colleges sometimes leave a lot to be desired , it depends an awful lot on the specific teacher and their way of doing things too as I noticed the colleges nearly all vary in how they teach practicals

I got a plate meter last year and started to kinda get into it I got onto that pasture base thing as well but just still kinda getting my head around allocations and when to go with fert and things like that.. if there is a butt of dead grass I'll graze it off but usually I'll just leave it if its short and then cut those few weeks eailer

@@Canningfarms yea it’ll take a bit to build up a farm profile as regards what fields are growing best , how’d you decide to spread a bit yourself this year , will you do the silage fert too when the time comes, hopefully it will have come down in price by the time the silage fert is going out
