First Oil Change - 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor!!

From what I’ve heard, the filter from the factory is the old model with the plastic trim rings. The new ones do not have the plastic rings. There is a good video out there with a guy that bought every filter for the 3.0 Bronco Raptor. Shows that there are only a handful of real manufacturers and they are just rebranded. There is also a prime sequence you can do to avoid a dry first start. Hold brake and gas down while pressing start button for 10 seconds to crank the engine without ignition. I bought a replacement drain plug to go in on my 2nd change. Has a magnet and a quick release valve that a hose can be attached to, to make draining cleaner.

Plastic oil pans tend to degrade over time and are prone to leaking as they age. 2nd gen F-150 Raptor models featured plastic oil pans, which often led to oil leakage issues. Thankfully, Ford has transitioned back to more durable metal oil pans. However, the F-150 still comes equipped with a plastic transmission pan. Fortunately, PPE offers a superior solution with a metal transmission pan that includes a convenient drain plug for easier maintenance and improved durability. There are some easy oil drain plugs for future oil change job that makes the oil change easy. Good video, liked! Howdy, can you confirm the oil filter part number? I’m gonna do my first oil change at 1k. From what I can tell it’s the same part number as my Bronco 2.7 filter.

That's a great question! Let me look and I'll report back. I bought 9 quarts (only needs 7 but always want to have extra just in case) and filter and it was ~$100

crazy that a $65K truck for off road use, has a plastic oil pan and plastic oil drain plug and plastic trans pan, gotta love modern cars, in 5-8 years than pan is going to leak or crack leave you stranded or $$$$$ at the dealer

I believe the second generation of the F-150 Raptor also had a plastic oil pan. Then they went back to metal. I had one on a 2020 Mustang GT and while I never had a problem, it always bugged me. So I traded it for a Charger Scatpack with a metal pan.

Next time you should really hold the brake and gas at the same time to prime the system at least once, if not twice, before fully starting the engine. Just a pro tip for you.

They used to say, save the receipts. However, I have a Jeep and a Dodge. They track your service when you do an oil change and reset oil life to 100%. Big Brother is always watching.

That oil pan is used on all the ford high performance vehicles, you can take a sledgehammer to it, and you're not gonna break it.

Tf are you talking about? Aftermarket? This is an oil change. As long as it’s synthetic oil and the oil filter fits and doesn’t leak it’s totally fine. Sounds like someone taught you wrong.
