shame Larissa herself doesn't sound good. She tries to put on a professional and neutral voice but her tone and the accent that bleeds through that makes it sound annoying. I prefer Templin's original voice as it was more natural and made it feel like he was talking to us viewers, not having someone read off a script.

The new republic wanted to distance itself far from the empire and the republic that led to it so adopted a bureaucratic way of dealing with things and when the main source of unity was destroyed the systems fell into disorder and pulled the combined republic fleet into their systems without thinking of uniting their forces

See, this is the kind of stuff that needs more screentime. Kinda like how the prequels added so much more to the originals and how everything came to be, a trilogy just covering how the first order came into power would be very watchable. The problem with Disney's idea of three trilogies is that the second trilogy explained the first, but the third adds nothing on but starts a new story.

Honestly, as a Lore-nut myself, I love videos such as these, which is also the prime reason I subbed to the Templin Institute. HOWEVER, I personally would have preferred if you hadn't released this video until The Last Jedi had been released, including some of the new lore that it surely will release alongside it. But alas, it is still a good video and I much appreciate and enjoy these videos.

So if troopers are indoctrinated from birth, then why does Fin become a deserter? It makes absolutely no sense for him to rebel if from birth he was only exposed to the ideology of the First Order. What, he just grew a conscience out of no where? And apparently, he has a problem with killing civilians and rebels, but no problem killing Stormtroopers when he switches to the other side. No hesitation whatsoever! I abhor Fin as a character, he's a walking contradiction and should have died in the Force Awakens. Phenomenal video btw.

I agree, they could've shown us sections of his training in a flashback - in which he secretly reveals an unusual amount of resistance to their indoctrination, then had his desertion scene. Also the way he IMMEDIATELY transitions into a happy-go-lucky goofball that displays no trace of his horrific upbringing is an example of the sequel trilogy's unwillingness to try anything that may be deemed as dark or unorthodox.

Conscience isn't really much of a balance scale, it's more of a cup. You grow up seeing people die, it'll eat away on you,fill your cup a little more until....it over flows,you feel the need to run,to find answer,to seek a way to ease that uneasiness you feel whenever you close your eyes. Fin never wanted to fight for the rebellion in the first place,he wanted to run away (maz's cantina scene) it took persuasion (and Rey's kidnapping) to push him to it.. And on killing of the Stormtroopers, it's just a matter of dehumanization... they're soldiers, they're kill or be killed. Their face is covered with that helmet to completely show that they're inhuman (even though under that helmet a scared confused man lies)... there's a big difference in massacre and combat (ex:no russian mission vs the whole mw game)

I'm someone who likes the vehicles, equipment and ships but hates the leadership of the first order. The first order star destroyer aka the Resurgent class is my favorite star destroyer. I think that most star wars ships had underwhelming firepower. They left a lot of space. The Resurgent is more efficient with it's usage of space for weapons. Also love it's design, the bridge looks like a WW2 pillbox.

My new favorite video, after watching this, I have come to a conclusion worthy of the origins of my profile name. The Galactic Empire reminds me of the Principality of Zeon, which in another universe, won the One Year War and became like the empire. After being toppled, it retreated only to reemerge as Neo Zeon. I love your videos keep them coming. The Crimson Guard are remnants of the same Crimson Guards that were the Emperor's guards. They were once Jedi elite soldiers once known as the Jedi Temple Guards, ie The Inquisitor of Star Wars Rebels. They are similar to the Honor Guard of the Army, Marines etc that act as Honor Guards to the President and those who also give ceremonial funerals at Arlington Cemetery in Washington DC. They come from some of the elite soldiers of the military such as Airborne, Rangers, Green Berets, Recon, etc who offer to guard the President and must meet high military standards of training, height, hand to hand combat and background, etc. For to be a member of the military Honor Guard one requirement is that you must be taller than 6' feet average height ranging between 6' and 6'3" tall to serve on the Honor Guard. Id like to see you do a video on The Crimson Guards and how much they evolved from their early beginnings as Temple Guards to Snoke.
