This city looks amazing, especially at night, and especially the *bridges* at night. Putting all those lights on them was definitely the right move. I also loved seeing all the other transit lines so active as well, especially the flying trains. It’s amazing how different the vibe is from Aurelia, despite both being science fiction cities created by the same person using the same program.

Love the overpasses segregating the pedestrian traffic over railway at 1:18 ! Plenty of Engineering and Progress ! and the floating skyrail at 3:45 looking almost exactly like certain predictions for the Future have imagined. And look at these half-circular terrace buildings on the slope at 7:25 ! Can't imagine the amount of modding and workhours devoted to making the map and buildings look so good and be positioned so perfectly in place.

We pretty much have the technology for that.. its all about magnets, you only need to sort out a way for acceleration and deceleration
@Suijiro99 Жыл бұрын
@@Drnken229 but to be suspended several hundreds of meters up in the air with the help of magnetic motors is still unlikely
@Drnken229 Жыл бұрын
@@Suijiro99 Its not unlikely.. with enough magnetic force you can make anything float, the height doesnt matter. The issue I see is simply how you want to speed up and slow down controlled, since the magnets would only keep you floating, I mean I have a few ways in mind, but they wouldn't be suited for urban areas. Ofcourse you could figure that out with magnets as well but that would make their "tracks" overly complicated. Also you would have to shield the interior from the magentic force with something like a faraday cage for important components and a shield or bubble for the passengers out of something like mu-metals or ferromagnetic alloys.

The city looks amazing from down here. The flying trains were definitely a highlight, as was how the network feels bigger than what was shown here - because it also actually is - with the branching tracks not travelled down. Those bridges too, those are still a work of art from any angle. The number of elevated walkways at the start also makes me eager for the next rides showing the inner depths of the city, whenever those are finished and the videos are able to be made.

It will probably be a while before Cities Skylines 2 has the same level of modding as Cities Skylines, but when it does happen it's going to be incredible. It's also nice that a lot of the features in Cities Skylines 2 are things that were mods or DLC in the original game. So it's going to be a much stronger foundation for modders to bring new and exciting things, and they don't have to spend as much time working on basic QOL features and rectifying missed opportunities.

I’ve never lived in a city with a tram, in fact I live in a town of about 1000 in Oklahoma so no public transit at all, and I know nothing about it, but I have a genuine question. Is this normal for a tram system or just cut down for the game sake? The distance between stops just seems really short to me. But still an amazing looking city!
@Akruas Жыл бұрын
Depends on the system, what is its purpose, what were the design requirements (distance to stop, coverage of stops, travel time) and overall density of the city around it. Stops would be further apart in lower density, much closer in higher density + combined with something more rapid (trains/metro). In Prague's center, tram stops are around 400 metres apart, some even closer. I actually had to extend the tram sounds here, as the real tram from Amsterdam had even shorter travel time between some stops.
