@francisshook14275 жыл бұрын
@@vannorman1116 most had failed gear trains and were sent back to Case, the boilers were converted to skid mounted boilers and the parts lost to time over 90 years. One engine survived in some form as a boiler that was converted to a water tank close to the mine it was working at. All drive trains eventually lost. There are endless legends surounding the status of the parts and boilers but everything seemed to dead end. If memories serve right engine 666 boiler is the sole surviving part. There are pictures of the engine clearly showing its number being tested at the factory. This was a colossal build considering the size of the parts and the sheer lack of original engineering data. All engines were considered experimental. The open gearing and metalurgy simply did not hold up. Outstanding job guys, I held hope it would get done, but strictly speaking was not holding my breath. This was a subject of intense discussion on the old forums 10 years ago, fshook, former admin for altractorsusa aka antiquefarming😉
