As sad as it sounds, there's probably a lot of moms and dads out there like that. I just don't understand how this directly correlates to manslaughter. I don't think based on the evidence that I heard in trial that she knew that this was going to happen, or that she had a reasonable belief to think that this was going to happen. I think she absolutely should've noticed some red flags, but I think kids also are really good about hiding the severity of their mental health sometimes. They were charged with involuntary manslaughter when the evidence came out that they had bought the gun for their son a few days prior to the shooting and did not secure it in the home. They knew the son was severely depressed, had just lost his only friend, had no hobbies, and was suffering hallucinations. He asked the parents for help and therapy and they just ignored him. The woman was just found guilty. I'm curious as to how the husbands trial will go. She was not sympathetic at all, the dad seems a bit more but we will see. They also were both having affairs, and when the school called the mom to tell her to come get her son because he was drawing pictures of guns and people being shot, but she said she couldn't get the time of work.
