I heard Adam mention in an interview after this video came out, he was actually thinking of the true entertainment value he was giving, even though the song itself suggests something else. Adam has defied naysayers about his music from the early days of being cancelled for his live version of this song on TV. Those naysayers aren't saying anything now, he has surpassed all of them in his amazing long career, leaving them all in the dust!!

This is the song that almost ruined his career before it got started. He performed it at the AMAs and kissed his band member Tommy. He had his appearances on talk shows canceled. Oprah had him on and he was on The View. They showed the picture of Madonna kissing Britney but when they showed Adam kissing Tommy the image was blurred. Adam called double standard. He released Whataya Want From Me and that song shot up the charts worldwide and got him a Grammy nomination. Adam helped open the door for the current LGBTQ community.

I have loved this song, ever since it first came out! Such a great song! I had never seen the music video for it, before. I got to see Adam in concert on his initial tour after he rose to fame on American Idol. He sang this song and it was amazing. Been a fan ever since.

I think the snake usually symbolises sin and temptation (from the story about the Garden of Eden where the devil disguises himself as a snake), and the whole song has these sort of "sinful" and naughty vibes, saying "here are all the things I'm going to do for you", "I'm here to give you what you want", but also presenting it as a bit dangerous - and that's why the snake ... I think... that's my interpretation, at least. 😅

It didn't go over here because of the lyrics that sound like she might be forced. Also, the reference to pain. When this came out, it made me dislike Adam. I have listened to some of his later releases and like them.
