Angelina is 10 yo here, and was on a plane to the USA about two hours later. I've probably heard this performance by her over 100 times, and each time I'm just Amazed at how totally Fantastic!! it is. I'm an old man, and through the years I've heard several versions of this wonderful Cole Porter song. And for me, this is the Best it's ever been done. Just Astounding!!

The sense of calm onstage is trademark Angelina. I mean, to start singing Bohemian Rhapsody a cappella, on one of the biggest stages in the world, requires much more than nerves of steel. From an interview, prior to a concert in Norway a few years ago, she was asked if she found it "scary" performing in front of so many people. She laughed at this (as if to say: "'Are you kidding me? Don't be silly!") and replied: "No, I think it's nothing but fun! I love singing!" The stage, undoubtedly, is Angelina's happy place. But in this performance, we can actually see that calm composure if we look closely at the original video (at :14) (link in the description box): She's checking out her nails!!! Not a care in the world. Pretty much says it all, doesn't it?

This is my Number Two Angelina song. I absolutely love it! I can't say quite why, but that feeling of tranquillity you mention is one of the reasons, perhaps the main one. There is so much space around this song. She takes her time and fills it with her beautiful, effortless, calm vocal tone. I am chopping onions every time I hear this because the simplicity and honesty of it is so incredibly beautiful it breaks my heart.

Great reaction - For me this has to be in he top 3 performances from 2016 -I think of this as her smooth and silky period. In 2015 we had the feisty nine year old period, to be followed in 2017 by her raw and emotional period. It is just impossible to pick just one number one performance, Angelina can't pick one either. Fans will say that her voice just gets better and better as she is getting older, but for me there is no way that you can relegate these earlier performances - how can you rise beyond perfection?

This performance is in many fans top 5 list. She was flawless, like you said in a jazzy style and you got what I liked most and that is to see her smiling with such a peaceful look. 10 years old. I have listened to many versions of this Cole Porter classic including the great Ella Fitzgerald. Angelina's version is the best. You are so right about the nuances that Angelina added to Ella's stellar performance. She has a way of making these very old songs fresh with her uncanny interpretations and incredible vocal skills. Angelina is once a lifetime phenom. Next up, also at 10 is Alan Walker Headed Home w/Angelina 2016. AW takes his electronic sound and puts it to a great orchestra at a really cool venue in Bergen and he is playing piano with Angelina out in front singing his songs "Sing Me To Sleep" and "Faded". There is a video where Alan gives massive kudos to Angelina

"Just made a short visit at TV2, on her way to the US". Calm, ballanced, in total controll as it appear. All at ease. Not much sign from travel fever, or travel exitement impact. She was 10, and allreaddy professional. No doubt Angelina LOVES what she does. She has stated that singing is like breathing to her. I think she tells us that singing is both a necessity for her, and it comes all naturally to her. That`s how it appears anyway. I also wonder if that may have been her trip to the US that made her create her song "OSLO". It was released on her album "It`s Magic" in 2018 as she was 12. It is said she wrote that song on the plane as she was returning home from USA. I can`t wait for you to react to her originals. "Oslo" and "What Is Life" and "Oslo" was the first two, and they are both on the album.

My friend, she sang this beautifully. She may have been singing good-bye to Oslo because she was on her away to the USA for a visit, not to move there permanently. She was 10 at this time. I like to include this song in my top 10 of all her video's but the problem I have is I have 40 or 50 songs in my "top 10". lol Yes, you pointed out her smiles and they were reflective of the lyrics in the song. She always seems so comfortable to make it appear everything comes so easy for her but a lot of what we see is thought out very carefully by her and should not go unnoticed.

It was a fantastic performance. It's sad that she left, but her possiblities are far greater in the US than here in Norway. I wonder if she changes a lot, because living in Norway compared to the US is a huge difference. As long as she is safe and the medias are leaving her alone it'll be fine :)

@@didymalgia We have adopted her as our sister, daughter, grand daughter and great, great grand daughter (I'm in the great, great grand daughter group). Yes, so far I believe everything is moving along very well. Her family is wonderful and is very loving and believe me, I'm not there (I'm in New Jersey on the East Coast) but she is very well protected. She still hasn't been officially marketed yet (family decision) and her family wants her to finish her education in California and try to enjoy life as a teenager as best she can. When Republic Records "struck it rich" when they signed Angelina they agreed to the families demands of how she should and will be handled. So far the arrangement has been great for everyone concerned. I'm not exaggerating when I say we love her very much. I'm sure you can see that when you read the comments. And we let her know that too and we let her know she will never be alone. She can always depend on us to be there for her. Is she a typical teenage girl? Very much so and some of us get a little nervous but she knows how to handle herself and she is an absolute pleasure to be around according to everyone who knows her.

The way Angelina has found to deliver this song makes it just the biggest slice of perfection she has ever given to us. Just magical. Impossibly beautiful. The way she applies force or withholds it in her voice. When she was as you say "actually smiling", it was likely because she gets the songwriter Porter's joke where she sings "from major to minor" actually beginning in a minor key and ending in a major key.

This is one of her most beautiful early performances. Another one at about the same age, is her absolutely stunning performance of George Gershwin’s “Summertime” (with the Norwegian orchestra - sorry, I can’t remember their name). It too will bring a tear to your eye... if only for the unimaginable beauty in which she delivers it. These two songs (and a handful of others) DEFINE beauty.

In this cover of Ella Fitzgerald's classic, Angelina does nothing really different than Ella, with the only real diversion being she simply slows it down more than Ella's version. I believe Angelina's rendition is the best and most 'moving' one I have ever heard. Also, you should note that I'm saying this while knowing that Ella was rated the #1 jazz singer of all time, over Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and Billie Holiday.

I’m glad you found this one. It doesn’t get as much play as many of her other songs, but it’s a favorite among Angelina’s hard core fans. The melodic line and the cadence make this not any easy song, but Angelina handles it so beautifully. As always, she interprets a very mature theme so earnestly. With just a guitar behind her, there’s no place to hide any vocal weakness, but there’s none. You said you don’t know this song. It’s 1940’s Cole Porter, and to show you how amazing Angelina is, here’s a mashup of this and the most recognized version by Ella Fitzgerald. She was only leaving for a short trip to the USA (NYC and LA) for work/recreation. She recorded an advertisement for LinkedIn and sang on "Little Bigshots" on that trip. The move to LA came a couple of years later, in 2018.

She sings it in the style of Ella Fitzgerald from her 1956 classic on the album “Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Cole Porter Songbook” (see link below). Her Management team recognised that L .A and NYC was where her Uncle ( Music Manager/Producer) had contacts in the industry useful to progress Angelina's career. However , she always went back home each time to sing at that televised Summer concert and festivals at the border. And then Covid struck. Anyho, just abit of tidbit info for you Didy to digest.😁

YO! I totally agree with you. This song is also on MY top list, but as I have heard every song she has ever performed, it's not on 2nd place, but definitely somewhere in top 10. Yes, she looked extremely relaxed here, and she absolutely enjoyed it, it was very obvious to see.
