@Didymalgia Just to clarify why she seemed embarrassed at the end, she actually mixed up a couple of lines and some of the lyrics as she was reading. And Egill kept on looking at her as if to say "Go on, keep going, improvise". She kept going and the song finally was almost a full minute longer than the original. That was picked up by another very astute reactor (JHT Reacts) who pulled the lyrics and compared them to what she was singing. That's why there was so much eye contact between the two of them. For her to be able to pull that off seamlessly and on the fly is absolutely mind boggling to say the least.

Angelina is the one singer I've heard that convey emotions to most. No contest. Not even from the greats of the past. I love her singing so much. I hope I get to go to an Angelina consert some day. Yes, all of these remarkable one/two take performances are held either in Angelina's studio or that of Egil. You can usually tell the difference by noticing whether there is one of Mery's painting displayed on the wall behind Angelina., I think this one was done in Egil's studio - notice the two guitars leaning against the wall.

Great reaction Diddy'O :-) Remember in the beginning, when I told you that you'd better get used to the feeling of not being able to adequately describe what you're experiencing ? It's making more and more sense, right ? I may be wrong, but I THINK I also said in the beginning that I really do believe that Angelina will be the GOAT before she's finished as an artist. At least that's what I've been telling most other reactors...LOL And to be honest, if you take a deep dive into her catalogue, like you are doing, and you have two working ears and a soul, how can anyone tell me that I'm wrong? Roberta Flack, Patsy Cline. By now you should be coming to understand Angelina's choices in what she sings. The biggest Hits by the biggest Mega Stars in Music history all the way back to the 30's and 40's. All of them Classics. She is absolutely fearless in her choices and what she delivers, as you said is Magic! Often surreal! Keep em coming. I saw you give a second take on her recent release of Adel's new song. It is incredible and I don't think anyone would mind it you jumped ahead on your journey to look at what her hard work has produced to this point.. It would show you what all this work, dedication and practice to her craft has produced.. And she is Masterclass! Her voice was beautiful at 7 & 8 yrs old. Today it is phenomenal!

I’m surprised you haven’t heard the version by Roberta Flack from the early 70’s that made this song famous. It was a huge hit, and it was a completely new sound. The beautiful lyrics, the slow cadence, and Roberta’s voice was something we hadn’t heard before. In 1973, it won the Grammy award for record of the year. You should listen-it’s beautiful. We know that Angelina has listened to all the greats, and her version is based on Roberta Flack’s, but we watch as Angelina reads the lyrics, slows it down even more than the original, and gives us her own beautiful version. We just accept that 11 year old Angelina has the musicality and quiet confidence to take this song down her own path with her absolutely unique voice. (You’re getting close to Angelina’s cover of Adele’s A Million Years Ago-also at 11 with just a guitar behind her. One of her best.)

Roberta Flack was the one with this song, but then comes along Angelina and redefines it. I think Egil was OK doing this , but behind the camera (probably her grandma), there was a big reaction - the shy look on Angelina's face at the end is her reaction to the expression on the face in front of her. Her grandma has listened to her singing thousands of times, but was not prepared for the depth of feeling in this rendition...

I think this song was written in the 50s and then revised by Roberta Flack in the 70s, who made it a masterpiece, still unattainable today. Angelina does a great job here, at the level of the best covers, but in my opinion she is still not at the level of Flack and her pure silk voice of hers. I'm talking about this song.

I said 2016 (when she was 10) was a very, very good year for Angelina, but as you can see and hear when she's 11, it just keeps getting better and better.

Defo one of my favourites. Notice how embarrassed she looked at the end? She was so wrapped up in the emotion and meaning of the lyrics, especially as a young girl singing in the presence of the guitarist, Egil. Reading the lyrics as she sang… probably first take, understanding the meaning as a young 11 yo, and realising what the last verse or so was about. The first time ever I saw Angelina's face, she was 7 or 8 years old. I have to admit, I don't actually remember which video it was that I saw first, because I watched a bunch of other videos of her right afterwards (and by the time I wanted to find out, I no longer had access to my YT watch history going that far back). But I do know that the first AJ video that I "liked" (as in, clicked on the little "thumbs-up" icon) was a video called "Angelina Jordan - sings 7 songs". It's still available on YT, on the Song and Heart channel. It includes most of her performances that aired on TV during her run on _Norske Talenter_ (both in the competition itself and elsewhere). Shortly afterwards, I searched for and "liked" a video containing just her "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" performance in the semifinals (since that was my favorite of the ones I'd seen up to that point). Unfortunately, as I looked around for more AJ stuff, I kept finding different uploads of the same handful of performances, so I kind of gave up and "filed her away" in my mind to come back to later. It wasn't until I came across "I Put a Spell on You" _two years_ later that I saw her again. (!!) Even then, I didn't immediately "go down the rabbit hole", as it has come to be known. I bookmarked her Official channel and (several months later) her CoverChannel, and for a long time I would revisit those bookmarks every once in a while (say, every month or two) to watch something. (I'm very stingy with my subscriptions, which is why I didn't just subscribe to those channels when I first found them.) Eventually I subbed to both of the channels and set about systematically watching or rewatching everything on them. I also saw a few early AJ reaction videos (from 2017 and 2018), but I didn't start watching those "religiously" until much later. In November 2019, I finally stumbled upon her Fanclub Mosarz channel (which by that time already contained over 200 videos). At that point, my fate was sealed. I started trying to watch the Mosarz videos in roughly chronological order by her age, but quickly found that to be an impossible task. By the time I gave up on that approach, though, I had already vowed to watch every single second of video I could find of her on YT. (I mean, all the "original footage" of her I could find - not every second of every single video with her in it [there's a lot of "recycled" content out there… and I'm not even talking about reaction videos]). Anyway, unbeknownst to me, within a few months I would find myself with a *lot* of free time on my hands (along with millions of other people), and thus the chance to try to actually "make good" on that "vow". I've been down the rabbit hole ever since. So, why am I saying all of this? What does any of this have to do with this reaction video? Nothing, really. The title of the song just set me off… [grin]

The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is a 1957 folk song written by British political singer/songwriter Ewan MacColl for Peggy Seeger, who later became his wife. At the time, the couple were lovers, although MacColl was still married to his second wife, Jean Newlove. Seeger sang the song when the duo performed in folk clubs around Britain. Even as a small child, she has always had the unique ability to channel music through her beautiful soul and directly to ours. This one really takes you out at the knees, doesn't it? But it catches you in a warm, soft blanket and lays you down gently. Even though she lost her place reading the lyrics off the iPad in her lap, on the fly she made a mistep into magic. Her musical and emotional intelligence is staggering. And huge kudos to Egil for his ability to wait and suggest the way back. These two together are crazy good. I hope they get to do more together in the future. She said she thought they would in her Christmas special. As you guessed, I had never heard of the guy, Josh Krajcik, that you mentioned. I checked out his version and wow, what a different feeling he put into it. Angelina's was so so warm and comforting, while his was, as you said, filled with despair and sorrowful longing. This song was so popular in the 1970s. I remember that. And I was a bit younger than Angelina was when she recorded this vid. Some standouts were Neil Diamond, Roberta Flack, Diana Ross, Gordon Lightfoot, John Denver, I mean everybody. All played on the radio or I would not have heard it. All pre-internet history for people born later. This. Songs like this are the reason that oldies are so loved and missed and still dominate the charts today. Go look if you have not. So many oldies on the charts. And as a result, some new artists are creating music evocative of those bygone eras. I am loving it. George Michael covered this song and so did Miley Cyrus. Sometimes I cry at the lost knowledge of Miley’s talent due to all that dumbing down of her being stuck to the contract to play Hannah Montana for who knows how long Disney would have insisted in milking that forgettable character. Same thing happened to so many amazing young talents like Gary Coleman whose health problems were likely exacerbated by the machinations of the industry. People get worked up about whether AJ will lose her innocence. I am much more concerned that her beautiful voice does not get the well deserved spotlight I think the world would miss knowing about. Things are not as simple as pushing the levers of power her way. The competition of tech with its noise to signal ratio mushrooms negativity noise far above the beauty and positivity the likes of Angelina. I want albums of great production highlighting her amazing vocal art and aesthetics. That is what I want!❤

Etter Norske Talenter så ble Omer Bhatti en venn av Jordan familien og han fortalte i DB eller VG at han ved noen tilfeller har hjulpet til å kjøre Angelina til ulike tilstelninger og han må kjøre til siden og stoppe noen ganger når Angelina begynner å synge i bilen.

You are correct Didy, there are no words to describe what you see and hear from this young girl. Robert Flack made this song famous but Angelina takes it to the next level of pure beauty. Not sure her mom would have approved of this song for an 11 year old but fortunately we all get to listen to this superlative version by the Angel. You shall be getting to know her guitarist as you continue on for sure, Egil here in Norway and Ivan when she goes to LA. When you find the time, Alan Papier, a huge Angelina fan and YT reactor (who along with Pontus Osterlin, have a Podcast called "Wrapped in a Warm Blanket) where Angelina is the subject.
