Brad is right in a way as it is the least ambitious album by Arctic Monkeys. They didn't try to impress people with it and Alex didn't play a character while making this album and touring it afterwards, at least until he got the haircut. SIAS is like trying to confront the heartbreak and mourn it while AM is equivalent of numbing yourself with booze and drugs. I hope that you will give Submarine EP a chance.

I'm not exactly the most happiest of individuals, I wouldn't say I'm depressed but I wouldn't really call myself happy either, I'm kinda in the middle, with a majority of my days growing up as a teenager feeling rather empty. Today was one of those days for me, I was kinda bored and directionless, not feeling too great but this has gotta be one of the first cases in a while where a video has cheered me up immensly. This was a very fun, humourous and enjoyable video to watch Brad, you quite literally made my day. :) Cool to see the hype around Arctic is getting to you to, what I find with most of their stuff is that yes, you do need to be in a certain mindset to get the most out of their music. Suck It And See was, weridly enough, the last and hardest album for me to get into regarding their catalogue (I love it now, of course disregarding Brick by Brick), so I'm surpised you actually liked it on first listen. Hang on a minute (something I was anticipating and wanted to mention) I went through all these discography videos through this year seeing it develop and KNEW.... I fucking KNEW Brad would have something to say about ‘that’s where you’re wrong’ at the end and laugh at the ‘sky becoming a scissor’ lyric, I watched all excited and ready, and nothing happened. I gotta say Brad, I’m disappointed with the climax i built up for myself. When I realised he didn’t get the English terminology across the albums and especially humbug I thought well he’s definitely gonna hate that line which even I don’t truly get. For anyone who isn’t British, in reckless serenade when he says ‘did he fuck get back to me’ that just means ‘of course he didn’t’ because there was no shock in what happened as it was to be expected. Great series though I loved it all. Think you should bookend it now by re listening to Humbug to see if your interpretation changed and if you like it now or not Also, yeah that vacuum cleaner joke was fuckin hilarious, hit me like a truck

I first listened to SIAS in 2014 after a particularly bad heartbreak from a 4 year relationship, so my own experiences at the time definitely mirrored the album's themes, particularly on Love is a Laserquest. I agree that the album is less ambitious, but I don't think it's necessarily worse for that. It's one of my favourite Arctic Monkeys albums, overall, tbh. I'm also of the mind that this is Alex's writing at some of it's best, because it doesn't try to be anything more than what it is. Previous albums, for example Humbug, whilst lyrically great, can border on the almost fantastical and the songs can be overly whimsical in nature. SIAS is very imagery heavy, but it's grounded, it's real and raw, it's relatable.

@@alexbrown8886 the first and second sound still so similar yet it's acceptable?! I think I'm more attached to the first dye to I remember it being a big thing! Not a fan of their new single I'll be honest.

Man like Brad. The only guy out there whom of all the reaction channels i feel like he could go on a bigger quest of becoming a big big youtuber.
