Tranquility Base is one of the biggest growers of all time. What sounded like uninteresting elevator music to me at first, over time literally rewires the neuron connections in your brain until you get familiar with the out-of-the-norm song structures, and it becomes so so good. Literally took almost 2 years for the whole album to hit, but the pandemic truly transformed the context of the entire project for me. There is a reason people get it tattood, it absolutely resonates very hard once it sticks.

So crazy, went into first moments of disappointment and shock listening to Tranquility and then it moved more and more into one of the best albums ever spot. Tranquility set the pathway for the Car, mirrorball excited me right away and again, all other songs keep creeping in my heart and brain. When i feel like listening to amazing music now, i pick up ‚Car‘… and it even keeps growing. Just to make a point here, i listen and collect music for centuries, i probably listened to zillion albums, Tranquillity and Car made Top 15 and still moving up. I seriously can’t describe how in love I am with this album. I love the fact that Alex writes in such a way that leaves you wanting to dig deeper into the songs just so you can figure out the metaphors and the messages he’s trying to send to the listeners. “The Car” also does such a good job in establishing a certain mood. I really like this album and it almost kinda bums me out when people don't like it. I feel people are expecting/wanting a new AM or something that is more rock-heavy, and if you're expecting that, this album will be a bit of a tough pill to swallow. But if you go in to it with an open mind and don't expect anything, which it seems nowadays is a good thing to do when the monkeys come out with an album, you'll find some amazing songs and a great experience. Plus, it almost seems a cool-like opinion nowadays to say you 'can't get through an album of the monkeys' or something. Normally I'm just a spectator and I don't react to videos. But I just have to say that you guys are great. Seeing you two have fun with these albums and spending time together is amazing to see and put's my relationship with my dad in a whole new perspective. The bit at the end where Kevin says it was fun spending spending time with Connor and listening to music together really hit me as a beautiful moment. Keep it up you guys, I really really really enjoy these videos and I'm glad to see that you are too.

Hi, I'm from Chile in South America, and I've listened to the Arctic Monkeys since I was very young and I really think that this album could easily be my favorite because of its music and its evolution, greetings:)

I liked the album on first listen but I didn't fully get it. Then I watched Alex's interview with Zane Lowe and I have progressively fallen more in love with the album with every listen. Hearing Alex talk about the car as a reflective and nostalgic space really solidified the emotion I felt through the instrumentation and allowed me to dig into the lyrics.

I was at an arctic monkeys show yesterday night and I swear it was beautiful, intimate and very well done. Alex voice is very unique, such a cool tone. Now he is an adult (HAHAHA yeap, we are all old now friends) he can do lows and hold on to the notes very beautifully, and he developed more control, even when he does falsettos, was a nice surprise for me. Oh, and they still play guitar haha , the show has a lot of solo guitar moments (but the drummer is the true star, love that man energy HAHAH)

It is as if Alex wrote this album as a soundtrack for the sequel to Submarine that is set 20 years in the future from where the original movie ended.

You guys gotta watch their live at kings theatre on their youtube, its only up until Thursday! Hearing the new stuff live really makes it shine, and the way they mix it with their old stuff may help critics make perfect sense (haha) of their sound evolutions

why's it only up until thursday?

@@cheesy4384 I’m not sure, it’s what they said on Twitter/insta while promoting the video. Hopefully it means they are making a recording of the whole show into a live album!

SO SO GLAD YOU DID THIS ALBUM! there’d better be a mirrorball (since it’s been out the longest) has taken over me and it is so so moving. i love it. the other songs are quite interesting and it’ll take a few more listens to immersing myself in every aspect of the songs yk.

I think the way you guys are reacting to the AM albums is perfect. Starting off with the rock of FWN & AM, then TBHC and The Cars jazzier style. Then finishing it off with their balls to the wall debut as a breath of fresh air 😁

My fave is Big ideas and Mr. Schwartz. It makes me feel so nostalgic. Also I ain't quite where I think I am has such perfect riffs. The whole album is so well executed in every aspect.

Based on this, I think you will LOVE Alex Turner's second band with Miles Kane called The Last Shadow Puppets. They have two albums out, released 8 years apart. I highly recommend their second one called Everything You've Come to Expect (2016). It has tons of great orchestra and guitar arrangements.

This is like their beatles type album cinematic bond theme atmosphere.... body paint the car and mostly mirrorball are the licks ...mirrorball will be a funeral send off track for many ❤❤❤

awesome to see your reactions! First time I listened to it I haven't enjoyed it that much, but every time I listened again I liked it more and more, I think this cinematic vibe is really touchy and Alex seems to have grown a lot as a composer. My favorite ones are Hello You, Big Ideas and Mr. Schwartz

Great reaction guys! Body paint has been on my brain since I heard it. I can hear The Beatles in that one. I love the sound of this album.

Alex said on a recent interview with Zane Lowe that the main theme he had for the album was a setting of a show setting up before the show starts. If you go through the Car and think about that, songs like Mr Schwartz etc make a bit more sense. I loved it along with tranquility base…

This album is definitely a grower for me. I was one of those people who absolutely adored Tranquility Base. Mainly because of the 'escapism'. It does a really good job of world building and transporting you somewhere else. It definitely had a real concept to it. Whereas so far with this album although it is similarly 'loungy', it feels much more down to earth (heh) and doesn't feel like it has as much of a theme to me, which I miss having loved Tranquility Base. But the more I listen the more Iike it.

TBHC is by far my favorite album followed by FWN but man The Car is a such a great follow up to the high TBHC gave(to me personally). The sound and production is just spot on as always!

I think the record is absolutely gorgeous. I think both this and tbhc need quite a few listens and then it just kind of clicks. I understand the comments on lyrics but sometimes we're just in Alex's fantasy land and there are some really really strong lines on this album. TBHC has 2 tracks probs in my top 5 monkeys songs and mirror ball on this album blows me away the more times i hear it!
@Csibu892 жыл бұрын
I feel this album is really where Alex's heart is right now. It is a double edged sword, cause you get this great mellow feeling, super smooth orchestras and beautiful melodies, but you lose the kick, that you would otherwise get with Arctic Monkeys. It really is about the verse, not the chorus, it is music for when you are looking out the window on a beautiful autumn afternoon with a glass of Baileys in your hand, sitting right by the fireplace.

Never been a fan of Artic Monkeys until this record. I liked Tranquility Base fine for one listen but I've listened to The Car several times since it released. I think it's a Masterpiece and my favorite record of 2022 thus far. Great video. Loved the commentary and discussion. Instant like and instant subscribe from Me. I Look forward to digging into the archive. 😎

Probably their most undistinguished album, but Body Paint is legitimately world class. I heard it live yesterday and it was their best performance in an overall amazing show.

I feel like Perfect Sense perfectly loops back to the first song. I don't know if it was intentional, but I've had this on loop and didn't realize the album was done until I was at Body Paint again.

Great album. I think it´s the logical successor of TBHC and what Alex has been doing with TLSP, you can really hear their influences in this new record. I really appreciate the fact that the band takes their new music in the direction they want to, and not where fans want them to (sorry AM lovers).
