I don't know man, Pump It used to show up all the time at college parties a few years ago and, personally, I think Don't Phunk With My Heart is a great addition to any early 00s nostalgia playlist. Their late 00s and early 10s era is absolutely full of dated pseudo-edm puke that made them feel like a joke (and their whole digital raver aesthetic is so tacky and cringe nowadays), but I feel like their earlier stuff is worth being remembered

@@SuperDarq64 I think I get what you mean. I'm not really a fan of them necessarily, but I occasionally enjoy them a bit, but it's kind of like you said, just in the context of the time they were prominent. @@XMirrorJoe Obviously any era has great music. I don't mean all 80s music. But watch one of those 80s music video tv shows and 90% of it is throwaway garbage that nobody remembers except for people who grew up with it. A lot of hair metal and super dated synth pop that sounds like they're all trying to sound exactly the same. That's basically what I'm saying the Black Eyed Peas will be.

I don't get any nostalgia from this whatsoever. I remember seeing will.i.am as an insufferable tool and my view of him remains the same. Such a deeply unlikeable 'musician' that got involved with the odd decent track, a maximum of one of those featured on this album. I used to be obsessed with Black Eyed Peas and Dirty Bit when I was 9. I had zero quality control as a kid lmao. Anything with a "cool electronic sound" automatically = good. Thankfully the good electronic music that I listened to such as TCM and Prodigy stuck around, while Black Eyed Peas was mostly left behind. The E.N.D. does have some guilty pleasures in there for nostalgia's sake though.

I haven't finished watching this video yet, but yeah, I wonder how off-put Brad would be by that album's weaker elements. I think that Fergie probably deserved stronger material than what she got. I think her voice could command better crafted lyrics overall, and the production on songs like London Bridge can be very grating, even though I like that song about 60-70% of the time. But I personally enjoy the album overall even though I think it's just okay from a critical perspective. I still listen to Pedestal pretty often tbh.

To say this is a product of its time is already giving it too much credit, because what everyone knows from it is Dirty Bit and I Just Cant Get Enough, and even then they're still mixed. Critics called Dirty Bit the worst song of the year when it came out, and this album is credited to killing the pop stardom of the Black Eyes Peas. The E.N.D. was a product of its time, The Beggining was rejected months after it was launched. It sucks.

The first time I heard the entirety of The Time (Dirty Bit) was on the way to prom. I was so distracted! It was shocking. I didn’t realize how twisted up my face was until my date asked me if I was ok. It legit put me in a bad mood and as a bonus it absolutely refused to end. Just kept going to make sure it out stayed its welcome. I Got A Feeling, for all it’s flaws, was the solid soundtrack to so many good moments and I think that’s a huge part of why it’s so fondly remembered. I also think The Time was aiming to be the same type of hit, but it’s a record scratch that disrupts fun moments instead of underscoring them.

Just Can't Get Enough really surprised me by making me remember its existence, and bringing back memories as a kid hearing this on the radio. But I never realized it was a Black Eyed Peas song until watching this video. Weird. Overall the shit beats and out of nowhere gross lyrics are what truly ruin this album. At least The E.N.D. had some guilty pleasure bangers and one actually good song (I Got A Feeling), even if most of them aged like milk. This is a big yikes.

You know, your talk about the mixing really reminds how in the late 2000s and early 2010s, there was so much improper mixing when it comes to digital equipment, or DAWs, prob was a rough transition. Will.I.Am cites using a laptop for creating music once, and you know it's fine for on the go, but just that if you're gonna release? That's probably what settled the mixing of this album in occasions. I will say prob an interesting time capsule with production, ever since beats this time hit better right now.

Fun fact: on the Xbox 360 dance game The Black Eyed Peas Experience, Love You Long Time is used as the character creation menu music. Out of all the songs featured in that game including their actual biggest hits, they go with THAT song for menu music.

dumb request but i would really like it if you reviewed some of david bowie's albums. I feel like you've enjoyed almost everything you've heard from him, and i'd really like to hear your opinion on some of his most experimental albums (at the time), like Diamond Dogs, Station to Station, Low & Heroes. ty bradley

Ah that reminds me of high school dances and parties, I was a teen when that cd came out, it sucked back then and still sucks now, but it does still give me a bit of nostalgia

That second last song was so good at least sonically (until the beat switch). I wonder what other albums/artists have that similar kind of sound (other than Ye's 808s and Heartbreak lol)

I kinda wanna see you do a review on Will Wood stuff, he's probably one of my favorite musicians and because of that I wanna see you tear my taste to shreds. either that or you enjoy it which would be nice.

I listened to the Peas a TON in elementary school so I'm a pretty big Black Eyed Peas apologist due to nostalgia. I will defend Monkey Business and The END even tho they're corny and have bad lyrics. But this album is undefendable. Even eight year old me didn't care for most of the tracks and found it boring when it came out, and that's saying something considering I had zero taste back then.

Yeah, I remember having the exact same reaction to this as Brad is having here when I was 12. If you can’t even get your 12 year old hardcore fans on board then you’re doing something terribly wrong

I hope you react to Masters Of The Sun, released like 10 years after this, bringing back to the Hip Hop they used to do after Fergie. It has many collaborations with good artist I consider it a decent album, I hope you give it a check

Brad, I just found your channel and am so glad this video exists. I'm ashamed to say that this was my favorite album for a period of time in middle school. I heard The Time (Dirty Bit) in a Kinect commercial or something and went to Best Buy to buy the cd. I unironically loved The Time (Dirty Bit), Love You Long Time, Together... and Xoxoxo was my favorite song on the album 😶 I havent listened to a single one of these songs in over a decade so excited to revisit them with someone who will give them the review they really deserve hahaha

if this album had production as good as just can't get enough it would be a decent trashy pop album that knows what it is, adjacent to early kesha with that level of nostaglia, where I never was really into it but it was omnispresent on the radio.
