There’s a finished third Minecraft album that c418 intended to release but he couldn’t come to an agreement with Microsoft on who should own the masters for it, now he legally can’t release it due to issues with Mojang despite being the original composer. It’s sad as hell because it’s rumoured to be longer then both Alpha and Beta combined (over 3 hours) and would be “more ambient then ever” but due to Microsoft’s greed as a company it’s now locked in the vault for the foreseeable future, but I hope we one day get to hear it

Since there's some confusion about the tracks, here's a bit of info about where they show up in-game: - Majority of the Volume Alpha tracks are somehow centered around survival mode. I say "somehow centered" because not all of them are actual survival themes. You probably noticed that a lot of tracks are paired and placed next to each other (Key and Door, Cat and Dog, Oxygene and Equinoxe, etc) and that's because majority of those pairs have one track that's used in game while the other is EXCLUSIVE to the soundtrack and will never play. - There are some outliers, the main one i want to mention being that Thirteen and Cat are both music disc themes (and Dog is the ost-exclusive version of Cat) I also HIGHLY recommend Beta!!!! It is much more of a dynamic listen but feels just as cohesive as Alpha imo because of the tracklisting. Beta contains: - The creative mode themes - The nether themes, pre nether update* - The menu themes - (Maybe some survival?? Lol i dont remember tbh i doubt it) - All the other music discs - A bunch of outliers (Credits theme, The End theme, a great exclusive closer in similar vain to Beginning) * Additional context for the curious: The Nether is a dimension stylized like MC's version of hell. Since it was added it had minimal changes throughout the game's updates, being very empty and barren. Eventually there was an update dedicated to making the nether much more flexible and balanced in comparison to the overworld by adding new structures ores and biomes. Because of the massive change in scenery, a whole new set of tracks was made by Lena Raine. Both Nether soundtracks are awesome and accurately depict their version of The Nether.

i was laughing when i saw you did a reaction to this only to realise i actually love all these songs cause i grew up playing the game. but also this is the perfect kind of music to read to i think

I’ve been a big fan of C418’s music for a while. I don’t know if he just hit a stride or what, but him making this, “72 Minutes Of Fame,” and “Life Changing Moments” within the same year has gotta be one of my favorite strings of album releases that all sound so, so unique and I think speak to how much he loves making music. What a magical composer and a great album.

subwoofer lullaby is such a classic. i don't know why but that's always been the one that stuck out to me while playing, and i usually play with the music off cause it used to scare me as a kid (slow music = scary?)

almost fell asleep to this, then he plays sum from his soundboard scaring me awake...

I have a connection to Mice on Venus. My favorite song on the MC soundtrack. I remember first paying attention to it when Technoblade died. I watched SADIST's goodbye video to him, and the music, animation, and quote all together made me cry. Now, I listen to it, and associate it with more than just serene and good music, but also with Technoblade, the best Minecraft youtuber ever.

I really think video games are the medium where ambient music thrives the best. Minecraft and the OG Fallout soundtracks are the perfect examples of this.

I'm more of a Volume Beta person however Alpha is still so beautiful even after all these years. Minecraft's albums are up there for me with Undertale; I really hope C418 regains the rights to release a third album in this series like originally wanted to!

i wonder if brad caught on to Oxygène and Equinoxe being references to jean michel jarre's albums. he should give him a listen at some point, really iconic guy

Please listen to Volume Beta, in my opinion it is even better. I love Volume Alpha, but I think Beta is just even more consistently gorgeous. It also has some incredibly long tracks that are some of the most complete feeling tracks ive ever heard.
