How could anyone "NOT" be impressed with Dio, and Blackmore's Rainbow. Modern rock, mixed with baroque, Renaissance, and medieval-classical influenced fusion, which started a whole new genre of rock music, lasting decades to come. A band that influenced, and launched thousands of musical careers. And it was awesome to see her so entranced by Ritchie's guitar solo. She looked like she was about to sploosh all over her chair. Thats just how I felt when I first listened to Ritchie. Unbelievable! I am happy to see the music of my generation still appreciated. Thank you for that.

Ronnie was a master of stagecraft, he stood 5'4" but had a voice as big as a mountain and could captivate an audience all the way to the rafters with his incredible stage presence. Rainbow had 3 solid albums of music with Ronnie, not a bad song to be found on any of them, Temple of the King is a standout from the first album, a beautiful bard's ballad.

I've heard this song literally hundreds of times by now, and it still blows me away...easily one of the greatest metal songs ever written. Ronnie James Dio (RIP) was simply the greatest metal vocalist of all time. His career spans decades...prior to joining Rainbow he was in a band called Elf (different style, but great in their own right). After his brief time in Rainbow, Dio went on to have a legendary stint with the band Black Sabbath, as well as a very successful solo career with his band Dio. Ritchie Blackmore is easily one of my all-time favorite guitarists, and a true legend. His previous band was Deep Purple, which he left to form Rainbow...he's currently playing medieval folk music with the band Blackmore's Night. Cozy Powell (RIP) was one of the true journeyman drummers in metal...he literally played with seemingly everyone. My two recommendations for future Rainbow reactions are the live recording of the song "Mistreated" and the song "Catch the Rainbow" (a ballad, and my favorite Rainbow song of all), preferably live as well. God bless!!

Highly recommend two KZbin videos of the live performances of Rainbow from the 1977 Munich concert. The song "Mistreated" is the best vocal performance for Ronnie James Dio, and the song "Catch the Rainbow" which has Ritchie Blackmore's best solo. The whole show is incredible, so if you like these then check out the other songs from this concert "16th Century Greensleeves, Kill the King, Long Live Rock n Roll, Still I'm Sad, Man on the Silver Mountain, and Do you Close Your Eyes."

What do you mean, two? Make that five. (That's Ritchie, with a t, by the way). Cozy Powell - arguably THE definitive heavy metal drummer of all time, who everybody who is anybody played with at some point. Jimmy Bain - bass titan who went on to co-create the most classic Dio albums by Ronnie's side. Tony Carey - keyboard wizard who since decades enjoy great success as a solo artist, especially in his current home country Germany. In short, this is a super lineup from beginning to end. You guitarists really need to grasp that the world, or any given band, doesn't revolve all around you ...

You have stumbled on to one of the greatest songs on rock history, sung by what many consider to be the greatest voice in rock/metal history. Ronnie James Dio was so incredible. You should check out Gates Of Babylon by Rainbow, or some of his Black Sabbath tunes Heaven and Hell, Sign of the Southern Cross, and Children of the Sea. For me Stargazer was the best song, DIO was amazing and the greatest voice of Heavy Metal, since the intro, you feel the power, but the song touch the soul, the guitar solo of Ritchie is for another dimension, all the instruments are mixed to create a master piece, and for last, te letter invite us to make a reflection to be ourselves, look for our goals and dreams and don´t follow false prophets because at the end, they are more humans and stupids than us. You are a great person, congrats for your video. Regards.

I'm generally no fan of drum solos, but Cozy's drum solo in Gothenburg has forever left its burnt in mark in my mind. When I was 4 years old, I loved watching the animated video of "Love is all" by Roger Glover & guests. I remember clearly that the singer's voice really stood out for me; I used to call him "the singing frog". Then as a teenager, I discovered Dio's album "Holy Diver". I heard this song the first time when I was 20, the year my daughter was born, I am n0w 66, and watching you watch brought tears to my eyes. The song lyrics, is Dio, a Prophet with a song about a false prophet as it reveals the tale "Time standing still, Then there's blood on the sand, Oh I see his face" I am subscrbing and the follow up song Light in the Black also incredible freedom from one's own personal enslavement. As he would write later "Life's fantasy, to be locked away and still to think you're free" This band is Ritchie Blackmore's band, I consider him the greatest rock arranger of all time and one of its greatest composers and certainly guitar players of all time. Short time later the rainbow rised in my hometown and I was there. It was a kind of lifetime experience. But I also saw Blackmore rolling his eyes, when he noticed how much the crowd adored Dio. Then I realized that Dio would not stay forever in the Band. Blackmore didn‘t tolerate other gods beside him. But it lasted longer than I thought. Fortunately ! More than 40 years later I'm still blown away when I listen to that song and the one and only Dio. Love it !

First heard Dio with Rainbow back in the 70’s when I was in my 20’s. I won an LP of Rainbow back then and didn’t know what luck I had in doing so. Knew nothing about them. Ronny James Dio is probably my favourite metal singer of all time, with great respect for Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) and Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) ❤️🤘🎸🇦🇺

The tune of this song is just amazing. Whenever Dio goes to Rainbow or Black Sabbath it's the best songs produced! Gates Of Babylon is great too, some middle eastern tune. I miss him soooo much.

I'm a lifelong metal/hard rock fan and I just heard this song for the first time about 2 weeks back. I knew Dio from his solo work and always liked Holy Diver. I had no idea he was kicking so much a$$ with the guitar player from Deep Purple back in the 70's. This is the most complete hard rock/metal song I've ever heard. Brilliant from start to finish. Dio has the most soul of any singer I've heard. Halford and Dickenson are great but Dio is next level. Subbed to your channel, great reaction.

Truly 1 of the best pieces of music ever written, sung by 1 of the best vocalists that ever lived! R.J.Dio But seeing people experience this masterpiece for the 1st time and being blown away by it like you are...thats giving me a whole set of extra goosebumps on top of it! The singer is Ronnie James Dio. One of the greatest rock voices ever. The guitar player is Ritchie Blackmore, Deep Purples ex guitar player, one of the best rock guitarist ever and together they created rock legends. I got to see rainbow twice on the late 70s and early 80s. They were incredible, just fucking incredible. Welcome to oick magic.

My first exposure to Stargazer was in 1982. I had already been exposed to a great deal of Deep Purple and Dio era Black Sabbath. I had purchased the first Rainbow album and really enjoyed it, so I thought I would delve deeper. I bought Rainbow Rising never having heard it and quickly learned that the first album had not at all prepared me for the raw power of Rising. To this day Rising remains on my top ten album list.

I was first introduced to Rainbow - Stargazer in 1983 as a freshman in college. Like you, I was blown away. Richie Blackmore came over from Deep Purple. Cozy Powell was a highly regarded session drummer who also backed up Michael Schenker. I recommend both Deep Purple (Made in Japan) and MIchael Schenker (his first solo album was his best, before that he was with UFO and the Scorpions). I doubt I am alone here when I say I admire your curiosity and appreciation of some of the very best rock music ever created.

Please react to Rainbow mistreated live in Munich 1977. It's another awesome song with the same guitarist Richie Blackmore who was originally in Deep Purple. You should react to both versions The deep purple version features a young David Coverdale on lead vocals and Glenn Hughes on backing vocals. David Coverdale would later form his own band Whitesnake.

Although, Mistreated was the one song on Burn David sang by himself. (I think Glenn's voice comes in at the end. His higher pitched tenor voice, compared with David's rich baritone. Same thing happened on the follow-up album, Stormbringer. "Soldier of Fortune" was sung by David Coverdale alone.) I've heard Ronnie's take on it. It's good, because it was already a great song before Ronnie got to sing it live. I still like David's version better. But Ronnie did it fair justice.

This is one of my favorite things, RDJ, Ritchie, Rainbow, this song in particular, and the entire album, getting the recognition they so deserve. They didn't get much airplay at the time, and certainly not this song. But... imagine being in high school in 1976, _really_ stoned, and hearing this at full volume for the first time. The first time I heard it, I actually needed a bus ticket to get back to my own reality. Note to Sabina, the track following this one is "Light in the Black" and it continues the story from the perspective of one of the former tower slaves. Every track on the entire album is excellent. Run with the wolf and Do you close your eyes were pretty much the only songs the radio played, you had to buy the album. SO great to see a new audience experiencing this.

Amazing response to what was probably Rainbow's greatest lineup and greatest song. Ronnie James Dio was one of the most genuine and loved rock vocalists of his generation. He loved and respected his fans and his death was one of the greatest tragedies in rock history.

Great reaction, loved it! I grew up with the likes of Rainbow and before them, Deep Purple. I was lucky enough to see Rainbow live in Leeds (UK) in 1981, unfortunately the singer had changed by then. It was still a fantastic concert though and they did a great cover of Smoke on the Water. Listening to Richie (and Roger Glover) play that was a dream come true!

Aaaahhh Dio. I heard this at 9!! My brothers 10 & 11 yrs older would only let me hang if I listened to THEIR music. Yeah. I was educated very well lolol You're not the only one. I love all music. But have my faves. Growing up I had a hard time finding girls who loved this. Their guys sure. I treaded lightly. I thank my brothers all the time. Boy did they shape my brain.....in a good way I love reaction vids for that very reason. I've seen all the greats. I need one of those T-shirts. Dio is in any discussion for best heavy metal vocals as is Ritchie Blackmore for best Rock Guitar. For more Rainbow goodness try Man On the Silver Mountain. Another classic. Nice to see your interest in this great music, Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

Glad you've found this band/album/singer! I was 13 years old when this album was released in -76 and I even got my parents into liking this kind of music. Main reason for getting hooked back then was a childhood friend, class mate and nowadays well known guitarist- Yngwie Malmsteen.

It's always so much fun, how You KZbinrs react to this one. You all react in the exact same way! 1. Whole body moves to the startup drum solo. 2. Shakes her head from side to side at the initial riff. 3. Then - when he starts to sing, she loses the rhytm completely. Jaw drops to the floor, and raising eyebrows at the highest vocal notes, laughing when the song yet wasn't over. 4. The unevitable goose bumps at "I'm coming home" and to the end!

Has a case for being the first ever Symphonic Metal song. One of the finest rock tracks ever recorded. It has a very effective mastery of "The Drop" - a device where you build the song up to pause before an epic movement. e.g. TO SEE HIM FLY - BUT WE DON'T KNOW WHY!! (bom, bom, bombombom)[pause] NOW WHERE DO WE GOOOOOOOOOO

I heard this song first time on cassette in late 80's. But I forgot it for a decade. When I heard it second time in mid 90's it blew me away. Total classic, epic, monster riffs, great vocals, fantastic guitar and of course rest of the band is just great. Late Cozy Powell and late Jimmy Bain were legends on this genre. I have followed keyboard player Tony Carey's career also and he's still unbelievable great. Other song by the group I could recommend is Gates of Babylon.
