When they have songs like MIA, Strength of the World, Exist, Sidewinder, IWSYT 1&2, The Stage, the list goes on, Save Me simply can't compete. It's simple IN COMPARISON and in some parts, incoherent. Not a problem with any of the songs I just listed. It's an emotional work, not a technical work. Like most of Nightmare. It was really the equivalent of Linkin Park's A Thousand Suns in that sense alone.

Just a little background info on the song itself, as the title mentions, it talks about the beast and the harlot in the book of revelations in Bible mythology. The scarlet seven-headed beast and the harlot were once in union until the beast betrayed her. It also talks about how the harlot committed fornication with the kings of the nations which you can also hear in the song. Just thought it’d be interesting to say

Glad you checked this out! First song I heard from them in 06 and I was hooked! My interpretation of the lyrics and video is how people get corrupted by sin, a lot of imagery of the whole Vegas Strip kind of lifestyle literally sin city (album name is city of evil so it fits too). Also could be a representation for America as a whole, some people criticize the decadence of America and compare it to Babylon (tying into the title beast and the harlot, the whore of babylon). This band uses a lot of biblical references, even their name is a biblical reference, I'm a former Christian myself and I do think the book of revelations makes for the best Metal themes in lyrics lol. I'd check out Bat Country from them next

Their song Trashed and Scattered from this album is an all-time favorite song ever. If you react to it, there's a chance I'll watch it numerous times, 'cause if I wanna hear it, sometimes I just view a reactor reacting. Gives you a view and me a listen. I'm happy to do that. I still play it all the time, even after 18 years. It makes me wanna go train... but it also kinda makes me wanna terrorize the town. lol. While it's probably not "too heavy," it's very energetic. a lot of Avenged's older stuff focuses on the bible and its lore, etc. that's even where they got their name from (im not religious so I couldn't quote which verse) but their first album is called Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and the opening song is To End The Rapture. on their second album, a song called Chapter Four which talks about Cain and Abel and when one brother killed the other. this one talks about babylon falling etc (obviously) and going to hell, all that stuff, you don't get that near as much these days. their sound also changed drastically from screaming to more clean vocals when their singer blew out his voice after touring for the second album I believe, someone correct me if im wrong tho

Yeah, this video came out in the era where production companies were in full force with the industrialization of music. So much so they couldn't just make a complete video for the whole song, which is the entire reason the video even exists, and instead tried to "optimize" the experience by cutting corners. Corners that make the song whole. So this version is mangled by the standards of the actul song. Shit was dumb, I'm so glad that doesn't happen so much anymore.
