In the 70’s, saw Ted Nugent live at Anaheim Stadium opening for KISS with Bob Seger! Ted opened the show by zip-lining across the crowd wearing only a loin cloth while playing his guitar! 🎸Fantastic guitarist! Next? CAT SCRATCH FEVER

The high hat is on a reverse gate. It's open and closing opposite of the signal being recorded. You hear the closing dominant, instead of the opening lift.

A lot of people don't know this but he was winning guitar contests against a lot of greats in the late 1950's in Detroit, that's why they call him the Motor City Madman. He is still rocking out today lol.

@@armadillotoe I believe he was 10 or 11 when he first started competing against other guitarists in competition. He talks about it in a few interviews and mentions some huge names of the time who he beat or were judges. He mentions 1958 or 59 as when he started his legend.

I remember my friends and me in my 71' impala coupe blue with black interior. I had a really nice sound system with a couple Jensen 6x9's in the back deck. Jumped on I-95 and blasting this for our quick ride to the next town. And yes we of course we're all buzzed on whatever. My thing was and still is weed.

In the 70's, Ted was already playing to sold out shows. The recording houses wanted him to change his sound before they would sign him. This song is his double fingered FU to them. Also he recorded this solo in one take. Derek St Holmes sings the main lyrics. Ted comes in with the "Sometimes you want to get higher" and "C'mon, c'mon up". He never did drugs or drink, he was just high on life and his music. Storm Troopin' off the Double Live Gonzo album really showcases his guitar ability. Welcome to the Nuge rabbit hole. It is a wild ride.

I have covered this song on both bass and guitar. The bass actually tends to be more difficult. It's such a tight rhythm and so repetitive, making a mistake becomes pretty easy. And, when the guitarist makes a mistake, he can cover it up and move on; the bassist makes a mistake and everyone knows it.
