If you liked this you will love Thin Lizzy 'Live and Dangerous' double album recorded in 1978'ish and is Lizzy at their peak. One of the best all time live Hard Rock albums. This is a period were the bands still had diverse musical influences in their songs. Lizzy had alot of different things playing into their writing. Sucidie is on there as well but is slightly different to this version. Thin Lizzy hugely influential on bands from Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden to Metallica. And as a bonus they were Irish so they would join you having that whiskey and yes thats whiskey with 'e' . 😎

Funny story told by Robbo (guitarist in black top). This was a big homecoming gig for Thin Lizzy in Dublin, and Philomena Lynott (Bassist Phil's Mom)was quite rightly proud of the band. However she was not too enamoured by Robbo's hairstyle at time and grabbed his head and put it under the kitchen tap and then proceeded to use some Fairy Liquid Dish washing liquid on his head, hence the mess on Robbo's head in this video.

Greetings and Love from Köln/Cologne, Germany. Awe, Thin Lizzy...Phil Lynott (r.i.p) great Bass player and unique singer from Ireland. Also from Ireland, Gary Moore, the most underatet guitar player ever. He left Thin Lizzy and started his own solo carrier. First years in Heavy Metal, in the mid eighties he change his style more into Irish Folk Melodic Metal.( in Tribute of his close friend Phil Lynott who past away too young in 1986). That's when i saw Gary live here in Germany. In 1989. My very first Concert. A life changing expirience for me. Unbelieveable and unforgetable. For me the most talented guitarist by far. 1990 he change again his style and played the 'Blues' and became one with his instrument. He died 2011 in Spain. A heart attack while he was asleep. R.I.P. Gary...awe, my dear..i would love to see you react to his performence of 'The Messiah will come again'. Live from the Montreux Jazz Festival 1990..With great hope i send you the link to the video ☺ kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZyTaJ1tgch_p9k ..thanx, my dear PEACE & stay safe 🤘 🌈 🐾 🍀

Thank you Sabina for a good reaction 🌹. I saw Thin Lizzy om their farwell tour at Isstadion Stockholm 1983. It was an amazing concert. My favorite song with Thin Lizzy is "Angel of death" and "Black Rose". If you want, try "Kings call" with Phil Lynnot and Mark Knopfler from Dire Straight. Take care🌹

Thank you, you picked the best version of this track! Too often people on KZbin pick the wrong versions of a Thin Lizzy song, or one of better known Thin Lizzy songs, which aren't always among the best Thin Lizzy songs. The slightly underrated band has a pretty broad stylistic range.

This is the classic Lizzy line=up with the famous dual lead guitars of Brian [Robbo') Robertson who was just 17 when he joined the band and the American Scott Gotham with the long hair. I worked for a time at ther rehab in England where Phil went in for a time but sadly had to be taken to hospital locally where he died. A wonderful band bedevilled by the usual excesses of rock and roll.

@birminghamchris9377
@birminghamchris9377 2 жыл бұрын
The track "Suicide" was originally performed by Thin Lizzy when guitarist Eric Bell was still in the band, including on a BBC broadcast recorded in July 1973. Lizzy are better known with the dual guitarists Scott Gorham and Gary Moore. I saw this band at the Reading music festival way back in 1977/8…they were a bit special then with their particular brand of rock music. Sadly drug abuse took Phil Lynot away from the musical world. Musically they were in a class of their own and gained a loyal fan base as well as the respect of fellow artists. Live and Dangerous is for me their finest album. This early track was a forerunner of what was to come. A ‘groovy’ reaction Sabina to what is and always will be a fine song.

i am a bug Lizzy fan, and Gary Moore fan….. but you have to be realistic, Gary’s contribution to the body of Lizzy’s work is not as significant (volume wise) as the other line ups. Phil mentioned in an interview that he loved collaborating with Gary, but they couldn’t work in a band together for any length if time. Scott Gorham everyone seems to forget but hell he’s been there the longest (with Downey) and helped shape the Lizzy sound. Sabrina: yeah drugs and rock n roll lifestyle imploded the band and destroyed Phil. (he wasn’t the only one with addiction issues in the band) . But Phil left a body of very eclectic & talent music. great songwriter & singer

Great images conjured up of getting slowly affected by the booze on your own at a bar or pub, with a blues band accompanying! Have only done that one time, but it was fun. 🙂 Hadn't heard this version of the song - and Lizzy are in my Top 5 of bands - but I imagine it's from the Live at the Rainbow '76 DVD. The lyrics are enigmatic. Who was Peter Brent? Phil's lyrical genius is there for all to hear. "Nobody knew the problem, but my God - Suicide". Wonderful band. As good as Zeppelin!

So happy that you were introduced to this song. There are some songs people suggest which while well known were not near their best. My favorite songs from them, are the studio versions of "The Boys Are Back In Town", "Jailbreak", and "Cowboy Song". Phil Lynott, the singer bass player, was badass. Bass and singer, Phil Lynott was born in the West Midlands of England, but grew up in Dublin, Ireland, with his grandparents. Phil Lynott is an icon in Ireland, in 2005, a life-size bronze statue of Lynott by Dublin sculptor Paul Daly was unveiled on Harry Street, off Grafton Street in Dublin. He died of pneumonia and heart failure due to septicaemia on 4 January 1986 at the age of 36.
