If you’re going to do more Tool here are some tips,; 1. Never do official music videos on a first reaction their will just distract you from the music. 2. Maynard voice is set in the mix and can be hard to pick out for new listeners so lyric videos can be useful if you want to understand more about the song. 3. Some songs are broken into 2 or 3 parts and ideal should be listened to in one go, in fact to get the full Tool affect you should listen to there albums from start to finish, they even refused to be on streaming service for a long time because they wanted people to listen to the albums and not just one song. 4. Rosetta stoned (done with lost keys), Third eye and Lateralus are expert level songs and should be done once you’re more familiar with Tool. 5. Tool is a journey of discovery of music and self, sit back relax and enjoy.

TOOL is in my opinion the only band in the history of music of any genre that does not have 1 bad song on any of their albums. I’m not referring to fillers that they seem to put into their albums between the main album songs. Some of my other favorite bands like Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Megadeth, RATM, Black Sabath, and Iron Maiden all have clunkers on all their albums. TOOL not a 1. That is fucken unbelievable.

Hey Tom, we're jealous of you. You get to witness an incredible catalogue of music for the first time, something #ToolArmy will never have the chance to do again. Great reaction. The rule is, 5 songs in and Tool become your favourite or one of your all time favourites. Doesn't matter with songs you pick from the catalogue. You'll get requests for each and every one, but some are far more popular than others. The Pot is generally a good starting point

So glad you finally got on the spiral. Showed up late.. just a touch... album just turned 20 years old. Better than never. Once you get deeper into Tool I really think they'll be a top band for you. I can understand how you passed them over basically only knowing Sober and being younger then, thinking it was just an "angry" sound. So very sorry to hear that G-ma passed, thoughts out for your whole family. I know they're just words from youtube comment section, from a dude ya don't know, doesn't mean I don't feel for y'all. Hug the fam and we'll catch ya when you're back.

No better song to start your TOOL journey. I saw a long line at Tower Records on Sunset. I went to look for an Iron Maiden CD that someone stole from my car. Anyway I asked what the line was for and they said a band called TOOL will be in concert for their Aenima album. For those who know what Tower Records is they always put new release sample songs on a kiosk with head phones so you can review it he songs before you purchase the CD. This was well dam back in 1996 I believe. Anyway I looked for this Aenima to hear a sample because I had only heard Sober on our local station KROQ. And also on MTV but rarely. I find the sample album and saw that a song was called Hooker with a Penis and I said that has got to be a hilarious song. So I played it and the riffs and Maynard talking shit and drums absolutely BLEW me away. I was like this is making my brain melt, then I listened to Forty Six and Two, I stopped the song half way and ran to ask for the CD. And my fucken luck they would not sell me the CD cuz I looked like I was 12 years older and the CD had graphic language. I was pissed cuz I was 17 at the time but as I was walking out some dude in line said hey give me the money and wait for me in the parking lot. I always carried my money rolled with rubber bands and never carried a wallet or ID. Anyway the dude came out with the CD and handed me my money back. I was hey you gave me back the twenty dollars that I had given him 20 one dollar bills. He said no worries kid it’s on me cuz I know that CD is gonna change your musical life and you will remember the crazy white boy who gave it to you. I was like man dude was so cool. So I went to my car and got 4 dime bags of Hawaiian Golden and an 8 ball of coca which was Bolivian Flakes so I knew he would remember the kid he gave the CD to. He didn’t want the bud or coca but I said dude please man I’m happy as shit that I’m gonna throw this in my alpine and 93 Mustang 5.0 convertible and roll home heating Hooker with a Penis! I gave him the pharmaceuticals jumped in my car and burned rubber coming out the parking lot bumping Hooker with a Penis!

Every time I come back to this song I realize there is nothing like it. For some 'Other' Category music: Dirty Loops - Working S**t Out (Jazz Fusion...Plus?) King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Crumbling Castle (Psychedelic Progressive Rock and others) And you have to check out tool's new album 'Fear Inoculum', for a mid 40's metal head it hit the mark.

I was hook on tool from the moment I heard them in 93' when I heard Sober...I think most dismiss them first listen because their so unorthodox...it not a 4/4 beat and it hard to nod your head but if you t let go of your expectations, relax and let the music move you then you understand. Their changes, the way they build you up then slow it down and do it again... Tool is a journey... suggestion next do Jambi from 10,000 days... welcome to the rabbit hole that is Tool...
