Re: 9:00 Truth. A Tool fan wants to share/introduce someone to the band - "Let me have 13 minutes of your undivided, fully engaged attention. No, you can't talk, you just have to listen." Many people don't have the attention span to engage with the music on that time scale. This tune brought me to tears the first time I rode it. The sense of loss I felt at the first faux ending at about 7 mins was unbelievably deep, and the elation that followed as it continued without a pause was equally high. The second faux ending with the measure of silence, again, felt like a friend had died, when they kicked back in for the last 2 minutes I was legit screaming "YEAH!!!!! IT'S NOT OVER!!!!" while driving alone down the highway. So filling.

Tool are masters at dynamics and polyrhythms. It doesnt sound like a jumbled up mess because they understand musically where to land on the "ONE" after separate parts and time signatures. Being a musician and percussionist in bands...that is EXTREMELY difficult to do. It is so easy to get lost. These guys have mastered it. They hardly ever hang out in 4/4. Love it. No words.🤘

macgonzo I agree with you that’s what this song is about it’s a heartbreaking and beautiful song. But one of the things that I find amazing about it is that it applies to so many other things too. I’m only 24 but this song really hits me because I find it to be the story of anyone who feels like they’re falling out with the world around them. Like they no longer have a place because how they’ve spent their life is no longer how the world works and they’re being forced to either adapt or fall away. That’s how I feel on a daily basis. The more the world changes the less connected I feel to it and society and I find myself always trying to figure out how the life I’ve lived for the short time I’ve lived it can be fit into it now.

Right in Two might be my favorite Tool song of all. If the song was an instrumental only, it would be incredible by itself. But with Maynard's lyrics, this song strikes a chord and is more poignant today than it has ever been.

It did happen to me straight up. I had never gotten into Tool. Had listened to all their albums at least once back 2 or 3 years ago, but it was a "it's cool, but doens't quite do it for me" kind of reaction. Strange given that it's a style of music I really enjoy in general. About a month and a half ago I was in the gym, didn't feel like listening to anything in particular and thought "let's do some Tool". Played the first album. And sure enough, it was a combo of me having to do nothing else other than paying attention to the music and that it sounded damn good in those headphones, but they went right fucking into my brain. Since then I've been on a Tool rampage listening to them like 75% of the time I'm listening to music (which is many hours of the day). And I've both listened to and grabbed my guitar to play Pneuma don't even wanna know how many times. In a matter of a day Tool jumped into my top favourite bands. I'ts quite insane how great their music can sound once they do click.

Truth. Maynard has said in multiple interviews over the years that he pretty much just checks in with the guys every now and again. "Hey, got anything sort-of-finished?" "No" "Okay, cool. See you next week" When they do get something done, Maynard tries to write lyrics and melodies that capture the same feeling the instrumentals do. Damned good.

I listened to the entire album 4 times through when it dropped on Spotify, and like all the Tool albums before, I was not gripped. But, I know Tool has a slow-burn-on-the-soul effect, so I trusted if I kept listening, each song would emerge. This is why Tool is my favorite band; the songs don’t capture or infect me, like ear-worm ridden pop songs do; they are more like intricate landscapes my inner light illuminates as it gets turned on and tuned up.

What I really like is how Tool’s songs hold up amongst the musicality and their sound. 1 thing I love is that Maynard’s lyrics are so poignant and relevant going back to the days of Opiate all the way through. I first watched this review the day you released it and I keep coming back to it as your review of it is a bit like Tool’s music. It’s stands up to the test of time too. They can do new things and still have their strength. My thoughts, anyway

The song is more about coping with age than the success of their music careers. The fear of getting old and the acceptance of it as you acknowledge your past accomplishments and coming to grips with the fact that you’re older and past the prime “warrior” days. False hope perhaps but the truth never got in my way until now (accepting getting old, seeing the truth) feel the sting feeling time bearing down (age is undeniable). It’s not a flex. It’s an acceptance of mortality.

Ive been listening to TOOL religiously for the past 25+ years and I cant pick a favourite track because there are so many I love. Ive recently been diagnosed with severe depression and PTSD and this track just hits different, especially when im in the right environment. I like to run a bath, light some candles and pump this through my headphones and let it take me along the journey. Forever a TOOL fan. Much love and peace to all ✌🏼

One of my low-key favorite things about this channel is how you guys mention a lot of really good points about a section of a song and summarize it with "Point is, shit's fire".

I love when Danny kicks in the double bass. He doesn't use it a whole lot and when he does it's just powerful. I have to rewind a few times and just listen to that part several times.

Tool - Right in Two please. Y'all would really appreciate the heavy simplicity of it. Just my opinion. Great channel and thank you!

Lost in Vegas are the only dudes that can take a 40 minute review and make it seem like 3 minutes .. that's how engaged and acute you guys have me when I watch you guys ... Ok , I gotta out my toddler to sleep now lol .. been procrastinating while watching this 😬

So refreshing to see an intellectual, thought-out, and very detailed review of a Tool song...especially from ppl newer to the Tool world and culture. Said it best when you said this is not for casual listeners. That is their intention. Their music is far beyond surface deep. You guys gave a thorough review which shows your obvious intelligence. Tip of the the hat to you fellas. I'll definitely watch more reviews from you guys. Note: No coincidence that it was a 40 min review on a Tool song.
