I saw it at an advance preview yesterday in Sydney. It does take a while for the set up of the new characters and story but be patient. OG Apes fans will recognise some nods to the original movie - especially in the score. It very much feels like the set up for a new saga - as many questions are raised. 🐵👍

Hello Ape Nation, I'm so relieved that the film is being so well-received & critically acclaimed, especially after what we heard & read about the test screenings going so badly. Now the big question is: Will these great reviews translate to big box office & just how huge could it be? It will be fun to speculate. We'll have to wait & see.
@Spongebrain97
@Spongebrain97 4 ай бұрын
Since going on Letterbox I've found it to be a little more reliable when it comes to rating movies because it's mostly the opinions of the general public rather than critics, and the reviews are either intentionally hilarious or serious. When I checked out Kingdom this morning there was perhaps over fifty early reviews on a 1-5 star rating and the majority ranged from 3-5 stars so I think thats a good sign. I think at worst it'll be just an alright film but it's ceiling is up there with the Ceasar trilogy. I dont have any fear of it being a bad film

My guess is that the reason the embargo is lifting on May 8th (if it isn't because the film is bad) is because 20th Century Studios want a back to back release of both critic reviews in the morning and then audience reviews from the early screenings during the day/afternoon.

The way Mae reacts to looking through the telescope, it’s not a wondrous expression. It’s a look of deep sadness and loss or disappointment. Looking for the time anomaly to see it’s gone and she realises there’s no way back to where she came from? Or maybe she”s the daughter of an astronaut and has been raised by them? If she isn’t a time traveller, then there must be other humans who can speak, because she would’ve had to have been educated.

I usually try and avoid critics reviews but I'm without a doubt this film will NOT bomb and it will BE a wonderful day May 9th as me, my mum and a friend of mine where I live are going to see it and I've got very high hopes for this movie as I thought the last trilogy was one of the best I've seen since The Dark Knight. I think the PoTA and TDK trilogy have got similar traits the first movie was the weaker of the 3, 2nd Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was a lot better just like Joker in The Dark Knight and then the third a conclusion just like Caeser and Batman both dying for a cause. I've got faith in Wes Ball forr him to carrry the torch from the trilogy to now as much as I loved Andy Serkis's performances were, I just hope this will top it.

I really want to see what the ape societies have done with agriculture and animal husbandry in this. Agriculture would be interesting because their requirements are in many ways similar to ours but also very different. Unlike us they can go into forests and jungles and eat a lot of the plant matter raw so they may forage more than we did when we attained agriculture. There's also water proximity, something quite important for agriculture but this may also develop differently in ape settlements as unlike us, other apes tend to get most of their water from the food they eat. But we also notice that many apes are now living further from forested areas. Animal husbandry.... We know they're still using horses and have seemingly only further developed that skill. But I wonder if we will see beasts of burden for caravans, logistical supply, power generation and vehicles etc. Will dogs feature? Again their evolution will have been a bit different to ours in that a lot of what we used dogs for was hunting and tracking but the apes themselves also do these things very differently to how we did it. Dogs were also used as sentries which seems like a plausible similarity that the apes would also want to adopt if they could. We have seen some eagles which is interesting but not really what they're being used for as of yet.
