For the money and for what it is, it is a great bike. The rear drum brake is the only major downside in my opinion. Great video mate. Got my like.

Cheers. Its a decent 125 for the money and I don't see why people want to spend a lot of money on a 125 when they are better off keeping the money for future lessons and tests

Had one back when i got on two wheels again, agree with the point of the handlebars being close. I fitted a set of wider straight bars with 1 inch raisers, Micron exhaust, digital dash and twin headlights sold it on to fund my old XJ900F. Great little commuters or for entry level big bike if your not bothered with speed.

I got myself an ER500 after my zx6r became unreliable. Agreed the bars are narrow and it is ok In the lower range where it excels is in its economy as you said it is a 500 but it's really low insurance band makes a massive difference not to mention relatively easy to self service thanks to the centre stand and being a fairly simple machine. They do need to be run regular though.
@EpicAdamMotovlogs4 жыл бұрын
What a massive difference going from zx6r to ER500!!
@BritNinja884 жыл бұрын
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs yeh at first it was but I was just glad to be back on 2 wheels. It is true I miss the zx6r smooth power band that never seemed to have a limit. 500 twin definitely has limitations but given how there is a camera round every corner its helping keep me legal. Plus the er5 isn't trying to break my back haha

Good little bikes. I did my test on a 2001 cb500. They do tend to run out of puff quick the 500 twins but still alot of fun. You don't half notice the difference running a non fuel injected bike, well I do anyway. I'd like to have something like that on the garage.

@@EpicAdamMotovlogs My ER5 used to missfire A LOT... turned out to be a bad pickup. Next... 1st cylinder coil didn't like me. And last but not least... Turns out that the CDI can overheat easily when you try to give her more gas for a longer period of time.

In Canada, our licensing system is really stupid. You can do a written test, and then go out and buy a 200 horsepower motorcycle with zero on road experience, totally legal. But on the other hand, the UK system, with so many classes, and rules, and having to a put a big Loser sign on the back of your motorcycle... just seems, terrible in a different way?

Ive had two er5s and I'm seriously considering buying another one as modern bikes 😢 😢😢 with their silly screens instead of clocks and no centre stand. . I've had or ridden all those cheap old bikes, GS 500, 600 Diversion, GT550, CB500 etc etc. By those standards the ER5 is a very quick, fun little bike. They accelerate like a bullet and will easily hold 70-80 mph. They return 70mpg. There were two versions. The earlier one had a better seat but the later one had a stainless exhaust and a flush fit petrol cap, plus a fuel guage that doesn't work.. The petrol cap on pre 2001bikes isn't very clever. Any yob can come along and prise it off. Most remaining er5s have had the troublesome petrol tap replaced by a manual tap.
