Oh really, I've rebuilt the carbs now so it shouldn't do it and I'm running on the vacuum so it will be good to go for a few years. It's so low milage it will have another 10 years in it easy is my guess..

Bike looks great and sounds spot on... Good to know the teething issues with the carbs aren't a myth. I will most definately be re building my carbs once I can actually get to the bike. Great video Charlie!

Nice one Charlie, we had similar issues with the 97 Blade but when the carbs were stripped and cleaned its now running. Glad you've sorted it, hope to take a spin up to you soon👍

Honestly it looks even better up front, it's a really nice kinda gray with a hint of blue almost. Plus everything has been polished so it's a good looking bike.

Hi Charlie U got that sorted, nice Yeah the er5 is notorious for getting fuel in the oil, usually it's the needles in the carbs overflowing into the engine, not shutting off, but u sorted that now with the kits Almost ready to sell 👍,

Yes the rebuild and using the vacuum petrol pump properly will stop any of that. Its normally when people run it on prime and leave if on prime which is unnecessary. I've got to re seat the top gasket and check the battery as it seemed a touch weak last week but other then that its good. Its tempting to go for the ultra low free test as I think I can get it through but its costly

I know right, I would have sworn that it had a sticky valve as it was running so weird. However the carbs were in a state so it made sense. My guess is it needs tue air fuel screws tuned and possibly a new battery and it's good to go.

You need an old bucket or tub & use it as your parts removed bin. Give that tank plenty polish ie 2/3 coats ( ideally buff with you drill attachment) then a thin coat of wax 😉. Chuffed you got those carbs sorted... ride steady and stay safe Charlie 🤘

I think I'll try that, I'll wash it with a touch of liquid to take the wax off then I'll cut it with the drill. I assume the clear on it is petrol resistant otherwise it would have ruined the colour so worth keeping it on.

@@motorcyclerescuer the cloudy effect is the chemical reaction of the petrol against the lacquer. A couple of layers of wax at the very least should protect it.

@@DB71170 got it, will cut it and wax it back up tomorrow once I've done the rocker cover gasket and air/fuel adjustment. It should be ready to go then.

Ulez is the one thing aside from money that's stopping me from getting another bike right now. I live 100 metres inside the extended zone, so my choice of bikes that i can afford has pretty much vanished. I really don't get why bikes are even included in the first place!

They shouldn't be but this government are extremely greedy. They penalise us as individuals while allowing Heathrow to add a 5th runway which drops so much more pollution then all of our vehicles put together

I can potentially make this bike ulez free. I'm considering doing it now. The value of the bike would go up to around £1500 though. Do you think it would sell for that price in its great condition with its low milage?

@@motorcyclerescuer You would def get more luck selling in London if you can get it through the emissions test. In a different time w/ different circumstances i would've been interested for 1500 with that mileage, i've seen way ropier bikes going for the same and higher in recent years, prices are just bonkers out there now!

With the triumph Thruxton rear seat and clip ons its makes a great looking cafe like Sultans one. However it's probably worth more in its original condition. Its a nice shape bike and they run forever. I would prefer some rentals on it but it's not really worth the extra spend.

Yes it won't be free in the ulez area however it can be made ulez free. It will be £170 minimum and £350 max to get it through. I think I could get it through on the first run so would cost £170 but couldn't guarantee it.
