It's fast but when it comes to climbing Hills that's when you can tell the difference and that's when the Raptor shines because when it comes to climbing Hills the Raptor is like two times the four-wheeler as a 450 especially if you're a heavy Rider 200 lb and over it's like night and day.

Its good to see people still driving sport quads, nowadays its either dirtbikes or utvs thats dominating the market
@tylerdurden89395 жыл бұрын
where i live people are starting to move away from utvs and back into sport quads. I just picked up a used 400ex, a 2007 with exhaust, header pipe, k&n and the appropriate jetting. Wasn't my first choice but wasn't a planned purchase and didn't want to go into debt for something. It is solid and and makes good power. I have never road a 450 so i can't help but wonder what i'm missing tho. My buddy has a new raptor 700 and it makes nice power and a excellent seating position over the 660's.

@@tylerdurden8939 400 ex is a awesome quad.... the fact that has reverse makes all the difference. I had a 2007 400EX and I loved it and I was going to get a 450R. But with no reverse that's a deal killer on the trails. 400EX is a sweet bike man especially that year

@@tylerdurden8939 I have an 02 400ex but it doesn't come with reverse sadly, but I found it is still ok to use on the trail because it's light enough to pull backwards or lift the rear end off the ground and turn it.

But still pulls super hard. My dream bike is to do a engine swap and throw a 04-05 kicker TRX big bore in my DS … it will happen … hopefully next season

Two questions. 1. Is the Raptor a 660 or 700? 2. How much weight can the Raptor handle? The reason I ask is because I'm a heavyset guy, 400+.
@PeteHager4 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason, thanks for watching my video! The 700 is a bit bigger than the 660, plus its fuel injected and a better platform overall. I know a lot of bigger guy's get their shocks sent off and revalved for their weight/riding style. If you get a Raptor 700 try to find one with the adjustable piggy back shocks. The base model shocks would need to be replaced entirely whereas the special edition model's suspension can be reworked for your needs. One of the most popular guy's in the industry for Raptor suspension is Jogaca Suspension Works. The owners name is Kevin and he's a super nice guy, tons of positive feedback about his work. Here's a link to his facebook facebook.com/Jogaca-Suspension-Works-1653322231579405/ This is a more cost effective option (upwards to $1000-1500) whereas full blown aftermarket can cost $2-3K.

I chose the Raptor because it's a great all around, reliable machine! if you like to trail ride and don't care for the whole mudding scene then a pure sport like a Raptor may be perfect for you. However, if you think you may need 4 wheel drive on occasion that something like a Renegade or a new Scrambler may be more suitable for you. It can also come down to what your friends ride too. If everyone is on 4x4 quads then you may want to have the same type of machine. 👍

It's hard to beat the reliability of a Raptor. You could also look into something like a 400ex if you want something a little smaller and even more affordable. 450's are a lot of fun but they do tend to require a bit more maintenance than a lot of these trail quads. They call the Raptor the king of the trails for a reason!

Awesome videos, sweet quad. Food for thought. Next time when drag racing, try holding the throttle wide open when shifting, dont release it till the race is over. When launching out , try using more clutch then letting go of the throttle. It will help. Shifting sooner then ringing the RPMs out will also make it move faster to top speed. Give it a try and once its mastered you will see the difference.

I have a Yamaha raptor 350 and it may be a beginning quad, but damn I’m to scared currently to make a jump to a higher power level

The raptor 350 is a great all around machine! When I went from a Scrambler 500 to my KTM it was pretty crazy. I was scared of that thing for a few weeks. You'd be surprised how soon you'll adjust to more power, it's just on you to respect it in the beginning until your comfortable!

Wich would you rather have the can am or raptor
@PeteHager5 жыл бұрын
Jacob Bussell I have the Raptor for specific reasons. It really depends on the terrain I’m riding. In that gravel pit I would have more fun on the DS but for more casual trail riding and high speed ditch riding I would rather have the Raptor. The DS and all other 450’s obviously can do those things but I find the Raptor to be more comfortable. It’s softer and less aggressive which can be nice at times. I do plan on getting a 450 eventually for track riding and playground type settings like this
