First run of MBTA Office Car Special train to New Bedford, MA - 9/18/2024

On 9/18/2024 the MBTA ran their first ever Office Car Special (OCS) train and it ran on South Coast Rail to New Bedford, MA. The train, led by heritage unit 1129 and GP40MC 1117, consisted of the two OCS cars, a South Coast Rail wrapped MBB coach, and a cab car. This video gives us a first look at the OCS train as it made its way from Middleboro to New Bedford. Be sure to watch the slideshow at the end of the video to take a look at the OCS cars "Constitution" and "Minuteman".

I wonder if 525 and 529 are gonna be put in normal use or held in reserve, depends ig if there's anything special on the inside or they are just regular MBBs. I like that they have their own little OCS now!

They have no more need for any more single level coaches for service. They have plenty of k cars and rotems to take care of the capacity. Within the next 2 years, 34 more blind rotem coaches will replace more blind single level coaches.

@@SouthCoastRailVideos Just wondered what these cars look like on the inside? We're in the south and don't get a chance to use trains all that much. Any chance of some interior video, and maybe a explanation of some of the terms used to describe some of the differences of the cars?

Unfortunately it is not possible to video the interiors as they are not publicly accessible but I’m told them look nice inside!

The single level cars on this OCS will probably be the only ones they’ll keep once they replace all of the others with bi-levels.
