I work as a mechanic in equipment rental and it's a downward spiral you can't keep anything nice and everything is somebody elses fault or it got there with that damage, best way is to take pictures before and after and charge accordingly , if its too much don't rent or borrow, people don't give 2 shits about other people's property, protect your bottom line. I've work on 318s in way worse condition then that but yeah unless the person is willing to spare his wife as collateral for the machine don't rent/borrow it.

J.C. That is a really full yard of stuff. You must follow the rule if it's not rusted beyond recognition; it will have a use some day for some thing. A rule I follow to the extreme. Much to the distress of my sister with whom I share the house. Fortunately it's two levels hers upstairs mine in the lower level 1600 sq. ft. of teenage boy's bedroom and proud of it. Very few visitors are allowed down stairs. This pack rat is also a prepper by default with over a years supply of food and fuel to run the generator for 3 months if only maintaining the LED lights, battery charging, freezers and fridge. With two large fire places one can be used for cooking with my collection of cast iron pots, pans and Dutch ovens. the old guy Bert

I wonder if you might find the seating position in the big Ford more to your liking with a standard truck seat in it rather than that suspension seat, it does seem to sit quite a long way up above the cab floor. Otherwise that's exactly what I expected from the F650, although it has done a few miles it was clearly all easy miles down the highway. About all you need to do is figure out the cruise control and maybe replace the rather ancient-looking fire extinguisher on the bed and she'll be pretty much as good as anything you could buy brand new for, probably, well north of $100k...

Never figured you for a roll back kinda guy. My brother in law had two rollbacks and a KW big rotational boom truck for big rigs then he had the rest of them in either single or twin boom small 550 holmes trucks. My daughters and wife plus her sisters were native and the right corperation got big money from the stocks from the slope. I believe he had like three of them, all fords and the 95 through 98 modals. So 7.3's with both auto and standard shift. They all vested in his purple/maroon trucks and he was good for every dime and nickel. He did keep good drivers on them and a couple he sold to drivers. It is a tough game here being in the tow business, cut throat and just wrong companies out there. He did use my own truck a few times when in for new engines or other big repairs that he himself couldn't handle. I serviced any of his trucks that came in by driver and sent them down the road, just sign here and go. Kenny did me right as well and his rep won him tons of tows including to my shop at a very discounted price. We really never talked money as he was in it cause he was a workaholic with a good disposition. Everything he made went back into those trucks as they got more miles and older. He was never home because he did all the work he could handle. That is why I didn't have problems with switching transmissions, engines, etc., but as he got older as we all do, cancer came calling to his family and pretty much killed him standing to where his heart finally quit. RIP Ken. and family. I still see one of those old trucks limping around. If we had the rust you have, he would of never caught a break.

JC I have to ask you this question because you're the smartest person I know when it comes to diesel motors. I've learned alot from you over the years. I have an 05 Ford F650 proloader rollback with 5.9 cummins ISB 230 rear gear common rail CPL 8136 with Allison automatic transmission, here's my question sir, can my 5.9 cylinder be sleeved? A local cummins guy told me my 5.9 can not, another mechanic tells me yes it can. From your experience what do you say regarding my block? Thank you in advance. If you do get a chance to answer this can you like my comment. That's the only way youtube notifies me of likes, not replies. Thank you Virgil
@j.c.smithprojects3 жыл бұрын
i think it depends on how badly the cylinder is damaged whether it can be machined out and a sleeve installed. that being said, a 5.9 common rail from a medium duty is a pretty easy engine and or block to come by. i would pick up another engine before i would spend the money for a sleeve. that would give you extra parts as well.

Never load a skid steer or forklift front end up. ALWAYS back up. If I saw you load my equipment like that I’d tell you to leave and call a professional.
@j.c.smithprojects4 жыл бұрын
do you have reasoning for that or are you just bashing on a guy who isnt a professional that is hauling his own skidsteer?
@mrgreen78354 жыл бұрын
Just because I don’t post videos means nothing. I have a class 1 license and tow all sizes of equipment. The weight on the back of the equipment is a counter balance for the load on the front. Backing up you can use your bucket to stop yourself from tipping. Driving up you have nothing to stop you. The fact that you have to ask “why”. Shows me how unprofessional you are.
@j.c.smithprojects4 жыл бұрын
a true "professional" may have offered advice instead belittling someone who doesnt have the experience that they do. as much as i dislike your manner of delivery, i will definitely use this information when loading equipment from here on out. after all, i want to do things the safest way possible.

@@j.c.smithprojects good call, they're a little nicer in the rain too. We had a few different brands over the years, century load rite, Vulcan? Whale tail, basically we preferred the beds you could pull a Corvette on without scraping the lip. Nothing you couldn't to with a straight bed and blocks, just a little faster, and more professional looking.
