Resko nearly got stuck in the ice as it entered the Duluth Shipping Canal through thick, wind packed ice. Springtime in Duluth!

This is the best Duluth video I've seen yet. The radio traffic makes all the difference. Thanks for sharing this.

I was an international seaman when I was young. I traveled between Great Lake and Japan frequently from 1971 to 1973. I remember one time the ship went to Duluth in early April, the ship sailed to Lake Superior, the lake was still a large piece of ice floes, the ship was in Sailing on the ice, so far.... still not forgetting the strange and beautiful Great Lakes

Really enjoyed the live control of the Lighthouse Cam, really brings another dynamic to all the great Duluth cam's, hopefully you can continue to do it in the future.

@@michaelborgelt1600 perhaps KZbin has an additional tool that interprets to your native German? I'm not sure, however, if they don't, they certainly SHOULD!!!!

A ship that sails the oceans. Designed for salt water. Saltie

Cripes! What happened to the side of it? That looks like more than wear and tear. : )
@jonathanellsworth212 жыл бұрын
The locks from the ocean into the lakes are incredibly tight. Most ships fit inside with maybe a few inches of room on each side. It’s why the Canadian lakers especially look so rough

Powered by a two-stroke inline 6 cylinder diesel engine resulting in 11,800hp! 😎

Listening to their chatter Is here any doubt to why the starboard side is all grunched in?
@SoloTwo422 жыл бұрын
The Seaway and Welland Canal locks are particularly bad for ship paint. You'll notice it a lot more on Canadian ships that transit them a lot compared to American ships that only transit the Soo.

They basically ride the walls of the canals.

I'm curious 🤔 as to when they passed through the Snell lock and Eisenhower lock and how long it takes to get to Duluth.

It looks the the Resko took a torpedo on the starboard hull

Poor Resko, you look like you got burns on your way to Duluth. But I just got thinking, what if they made the original span of the bridge hollow or get rid of it entirely allowing for more clearance

So neat!!! Thank you.

Why does the Wisconsin point Cam not working
@jonathanellsworth212 жыл бұрын
No power, that cam is several miles from civilization by road, and in the middle of the woods. Not an easy location to make repairs

These ships came in without the salute, which is disappointing.

I was just thinking that same thing!
@jeffburnham66112 жыл бұрын
Not unusual. It's the Captains choice whether or not he wants to render a salute after establishing voice communication with the bridge operator.

What a crappy place to live. Cold and desolate. Hope the pay top tier to keep people from leaving to better climates.
