FIRST SEM FINALS | Nightingale College BSN

Hi there!
It's week 15 now since I filmed this video lol but here it is! A quick little update on the last 2 weeks of the semester. Still can't believe I'm about to finish the 1st semester of my BSN program. Something I've only thought about in the past is now happening and now 4 semesters left until I graduate!

Hi, Are you in the advance placement BSN program? did you also pass and tested out of the HESI medsurg and health assessment is that why you are taking 5 semesters? I LOOK FORWARD TO ALL YOUR VIDEOS they are exxxtrreeemeellyyy helpful thank you for posting your experiences!

I'm so glad I found your channel! I'll be starting Nightingale on May 6th. Can you eventually do a video explaining the "webinars" I think they're called. Like if they're synchronous or asynchronous. I'm also a California LVN and my concern is if they occur during work hours. How do you manage that if you work full time?

Hi thanks for watching and congrats! I'll do my best to include that info :) My lunch is flexible so I take it on the times webinars are. This semesters it I had a 7am English webinar for an hour and I start work at 8am. For College Algebra the webinars were @1pm for an hour and took my lunch at that time. Hope this helps!

Hi! I’m not sure if the midterm is the same of all teachers but I wish I would have studied the last quizzes! They were very similar and the study guide my prof provided reflected the midterm exam. Good luck!!!

hi! yes I did have most of my pre-reqs done before enrolling. I did need nutrition, pathophysiology and college algebra so that's what I took last sem.

Hi Jenn, I have a question I hope you may be able to answer. I know you did a few HESI's and tested out of some classes. Also, you are already an LVN, but do you think this BSN program is possible for someone with no medical, or healthcare background? I'm coming from 20yrs in banking with a bachelors in business management. About 7 or 8 of my classes transfer, but I still need to do algebra again due to me completing it over 5yrs ago and stats as well. I need about 97 units and it looks like it will take 6 semesters if I pass every class. My fear is failing out due to not having a medical background, as this degree is moslty online. Any advice would be apperciated. Thank you.

Hi! completely valid fear and there are plenty of students who don't have medical background get through the nursing program fine! My advice is to start exposing yourself to anything medical/nurse related. If you can volunteer at a hospital or shadow that would be great. Talking to a nurse and getting to pick their brain on how to get through nursing school lol I feel like it's all based on how you learn new information and put in the work to study the material. Asking questions for clarification and going to office hours for one-on-one help makes such a huge difference in understanding the material. I suggest joining facebook groups in your area that are als going to Nightingale Collge for more support! You got this and good luck!! I hope this helps!

Hey Jenn, last question, do you know where the clinicals are done for this school? I've read its mostly elder care facilities. With the lack of IV and catherter training, wouldn't that be an issue? Thanks again, that was my last question. I apperciate it.

@@chrisswitzer3541 hey no worries! clinicals are done at various states and can be at a hospital. Realistically whichever site is available for you to complete the clinical hours. There are more long term care facilities that particiapte but some students have gotten placed at hospitals. I'll be going to my first clinical rotation next sem around September so I don't have experiecnce in placement yet! When I went to my LVN program they didn't even teach us anything about IV's. I learned and had experiened after graduation when I worked in the ER. So don't be discouraged if you don't get a lot of IV practice in school because you'll get plenty afterwards!
